yes the red charge light will only stay lit for just a little bit... then turn it on by pressing down above the words written "charge". You should be pressing and holding down on a dial with three semi circles above it (as szuravic stated). Press and hold down until you get the bluetooth and power button lit on blue. Then go to your settings and bluetooth.... "bluetooth keyboard" should pop up. Click on it and then it will ask you to enter a 4 digit code on your keyboard followed by the return key. Soon after you should be "connected". If you are fully charged (first time plugged in should be 12 hours.. then after 4 hours) then you can unplug. Hope that's helpful!!
You may be making this too complicated. When the air temp is high, the battery can become weak. So a battery that tests "good' today may be "fair" when it is 90 degrees. Heat and lack of water are the biggest killers of car batteries. And a starter can take twice as much current to operate when hot than when cold. Dampness and humidity are also factors in electrical circuits. I would disconnect the battery when the truck is going to be parked for more than a few hours until you find the problem. That way you will know nothing in the truck is draining it. Also, you should have the output of the alternator checked. A failing alternator would not have anything to do with the check engine light on your truck. The alternator can be charging 5 amps which would be enough to knock out the battery light, but not enough to handle the heat and the load of running the ac. It should be able to charge 40 or 50amps at road speed when needed. The check engine light and rough running stuff does not involve the starting system. Only the battery, starter, and cables.
If you tried turning the laptop on with NO battery but plugged into the mains and you get no response, even no little lights flickering then its possible that something to do with the motherboard (obviously, you might think) but get someone too look inside it if you can, something might be fried. its a bit hard not actually seeing the machine
Is the AC Power adapter the original adapter of the laptop? If it is,
try to drain the battery and charge it for 8-12 hours without using or opening the laptop just charge it. After charging, remove the power adapter as you open your laptop. Make this way a habbit of using and charging your laptop to make the charging and battery life last long.
