I had the same problem. Mine broke about 6 months after I bought it, so it was covered under warranty. Take it back to where you bought it from see if they'll honor the warranty.

My CBK-200 breadmaker is about a month old and has started doing this. The paddle slips off its shaft, gets buried in the loaf, and the loaf comes out very short and dense. If the paddle stays on the shaft, the bread turns out well. I suspect the short loaf is because the bread is not kneaded well enough to develop the gluten to support the rising.

Kneading blade comes off during breadmaking process

Yes, if the blade come off then your bread is not going to mix and knead properly. The blades on all makers are designed to slip on and off though so you can remove them for cleaning etc. Be sure you are pushing the paddle all the way on. If it still comes off when mixing that would be very odd as the weight of the dough ball itself helps keep paddles on. I have owned dozens of machines by different manufacturers and never had a paddle come off in process.

If the spindle is turning and the paddle is not then your paddle is worn out and probable slipping on the spindle. If the spindle isn't turning then your problem is underneath the pan or inside the drive and your paddle may be fine.

The part that the kneading paddle connects to in the machine is not working. Will not turn the kneading paddle

Hi, The sealed bearing that the paddle shaft fits through is frozen and has failed. You could try filling the pan 1/2 way with hot water for a few times to see if it turns but otherwise a new bread pan is needed. Hank

Hi, If this is the third time using it, it could be defective. Return it for service. If not under warranty, try a few things. 1) Make sure the pan is inserted in the machine correctly. 2) Make sure that the paddle is not sticking, or the sealed bearing on the bottom of the bread pan is not broken or frozen. (Take pan out and see if you can turn the paddle freely by hand). Or finally, the belt may be loose and slipping, especially when it takes more power to knead the dough the second time. Good luck...Hank

Kneading blade stuck

Hi,
The little bearing that turns the paddle is frozen. You will need to get a new bread pan. This happened to me after 7 years of use. If under warranty have them replace it. It was about $25.00 for a used bread pan on ebay, so I just bought a new machine at Wally World (Walmart) for $52.00.

Kneading paddle having problem kneading

Sounds like you might need a new belt. If it works ok with nothing in it but wont when the dough is in there

Bread paddle isn't "strong" enough to knead

Hi bex_ta,

If the paddle doesn't have the power to knead, you're probably losing torque at one or more of several points:
1) Where the paddle attaches to the shaft (is there evidence of slippage/wear in the paddle socket?),
2) Where the shaft goes through the pan (possible friction point - presumably this is what you oiled)
3) The belt might be slipping, either due to friction in the shaft, or because the belt is worn and loose.

You need to determine if the shaft is sticking, and if it's because it's bent (fairly unlikely) or if there's something fouling it. You'll need to isolate and fix that first. If you can rotate the shaft freely, then we look at (1) and (3) above - these are simple parts replacements, but the shaft would be more involved.

Belts are getting tough to find - if you can provide specs/measurements, I'm going to start contacting a small-run manufacturer to see about making some new belts, as I'm seeing multiple online requests for belt parts. If you happen to have a broken one, I'd like to get one as a sample to send to a manufacturer.

If I can be of further assistance, or if you have questions about any of my response(s), please let me know before rating me.

If this solves the issue, please rate it accordingly. My goal is to earn a "FixYa" rating from everyone I help.

Thanks for using Fixya.com,
