Re: no power

Had the same problem. Try plugging and unpluging the system cord that connects the subwoofer to the control unit. Mine looked fine - but must have become loose. Try it.

What could happen with CD player switching on power supply 220v instead needed 110v?

Feeding it with twice the voltage it needs to work on?
In the best case, only a fuse has blown. Worst case? The whole power supply has had a to high voltage, before the fuse blew. All components will be aged and can give up in a few hours, after the fuse is replaced, or in a few months.
It also could be there are already some defect components in the player.

I wish you luck and hope only the fuse needs replacement.

My cd player stopped working the power light is not showing i have changed the lead to make sure it was not the fuse

Check for bulging / leaky capacitors on the main PCB, they are a common problem on Arcam CD Players.
There should be a few 25v 1000uf caps scattered around, check those first.

Hope this helps.

Pioneer CDJ-400 won't turn on.

sounds like a fuse, is the red stanby light on? if it is and it wont power up , then you may have blown the thermal fuse in the main power transformer

Philips 765 CDR - twin deck

Remove the 765's casing. If you don't have a star shapped screwdriver use a flat head which sits tight in the screwheads diagonals. Once removed, observe the 765's driver chip which sits behind the recording deck mechanism of the left hand deck. With the power cord disconected carefully remove this chip by gently working a flathead driver between the chip and it's base (the chip is not soldered to it's base but take care not to bend the pins) Once removed, power up the unit for a few seconds making sure that you do not touch the live internal workings. Remove the power cord again and switch the power button on for a few seconds(with no power chord attached) to allow the units capacitors to discharge fully . Gently replace the driver chip. Replace the cover and switch the unit on again. The unit should reboot and the gremlins should be gone.

Cd recorder/player will not power up.

Hi, I'm assuming you have changed the fuse inside the plug. The poblem could be an internal fuse inside the amplifier which has blown due to a possible power cut or surge. The burning plastic smell could also be a few capacitors that have blown.

It sounds like a definite open up and take a look around job, if you want to you can open up the cd player and take a look for yourself, but BE CAREFUL. A service engineer may require to change the power board inside the cd player or other boards, it is very rare for an engineer to change components unless it is easy to do so. I believe some engineers will have a look around for you at no cost to you and evaluate the problem. As for cost your probably looking at over £100 for parts and labour depending on the engineer.

Hope this helps

Arcam CD73 fault

Hi there. I would check the power supply rails, you have probably lost a volatge about the Audio line output /DA stages. Check voltage reg packs, they fail alot. I have repaired a few of these over the years, hit me back if you need to go further.
