Re: dryer stops tumbling
First off you are posting a Kenmore question in the GE section look at the top.. Ikenfixit is right the thermal safety is a fuse if you will a one time (blow it and it has to be replaced) it is located on the gray blower duct behind the back wall you will have to remove the back panel (Unplug th eunit) and you will see it 2 wires It is white and looks like a fuse with ears on it You can jump it if you dont have a meter to test it and see if the dryer works
The main cause of failure on this part is a clogged vent going to the oputside so make sure it is cleaned out and blowing good outside

sounds like you have a bad heat sensor bypassing your fuse is an open invation to start a fire its there for a reason it also sounds like your timer is bad you might consider a new dryer dependimg on how old it is
you need to send the model number, open the door and look around the opening where you put the clothes into the dryer and you'll see the tag with the model number.it will start with 110. or 417.because you have no heat that's why the timer won't advance, when the heat shuts down then the timer advances when the heat comes back on the timer stops moving or advancing,no heat the timer won't move.send the model number
Yes it deffinetley sounds like you may have a timer issue, if your timer stops and the dryer is running, or if the timer keeps going around and around this will be the problem, however there are thermostats inside the dryer and if you have it set on a HEAT and not a TIMED setting the thermostats won't advance the timer because they havent been set.Hope this helps
It sounds like the timer to me!
With the old timers you could open it up and spray it with a can ot electrical cleaner (same as they sell for computers) and a lot of the time it would fix the problem!
This might also work on the circuit boards of a new washer!
Cost about $10.
Hope this was helpful!
I have a kenmore dryer, bought used, and it was working good but it now wont turn on. The light inside comes on when the door is opened, but no matter what the setting, it wont start. It's the Kenmore 70 series, front loading electric dryer. Is there a fuse or reset button I can try?
Hi, the problem with the dryer not stopping is most likely the switch that controls when it starts. This switch is located behind the button you would push in to start the dryer, and if you can take off the rear panel and get to it, you can most likely adjust the internal contacts so that they don't continuously make contact. Or you could just replace the switch, which might be easier!
