Go into the customer menu and find and select convergence with the Philips remote.

If it is out or skewed OR red or blue will not move in some direction it is a convergence circuit problem. Confirm this and I can tell you what parts are needed and a cost for them (Usually under 30 total)

Lots of people see this kind of trouble and think one of the picture tubes is the problem.

Let me know what you find and I will help.

Although tv is showing picture the colours only showing background etc are green and blue

Hello
Your TVs red colour output section has the trouble. There is no red output at the red cathode of the picture tube. The red, green, and blue output sections are on the picture tube base board. In some Philips model, these will be consists of transistors, and some has an IC or Tree ICs for three colour output used. You just open your TV, measure the voltages at these three cahodes. There will be markings on the printed circuit board for these cathodes marked as [Rk,Bk and Gk].
In your TVs case the voltage at the Rk marked pin will be higher that the other two cathodes. This can be caused by an open drive transistor or an Ic whichever may ysed there. If it is transistor, just replace it with a same type and number, as in the ace of ICs the related Ic, must be replaced. If only one Ic is uded for red, green and blue outputs, that Ic must be replaced.
If you need any more assistance, feel free to get me through Fixya. Ok.

I have seen a problem in my tv is that there is no green colour display in crt. only two colour ( i.e. Red and Blue) or combination may be display. Pl. look into this matter , replay soon

Your problem may related to the green output or driver stage in your tv. Usually green calour is not tranmitted, only blue and red colour informatein are comming from transmitters. Green colour information is regenerated inside the tv by matrix network. If the matrix get damaged no green colour will be displayed. To check first; whether the TV colour picture tube's green gun is right or not. For that you must connect a resistor of value more than 470k 2W, to the green cathode of the picture tube base to earth. The connection should be done causiously, not for a long time. It is advised to do in intermittantly with just touches. When you touch the green cathode with the resistor with one side of it earthed, a green flash must come on the crt. You can do this test for red and blue too. If there is no green flash, or light picture tube may be faulty. It is a very rare case. You must check the volltages of the other two cathodes [red and blue]. The voltage at green cathode must be almost the same as other two.
Just check the green output transistor for open. If it is open, voltage at green cathode will be high. Also check the base voltge of the green output transistor. It should be around 2.5vDC. You can compare the base voltages of the other two transistors with green drive base voltage. If there is no base voltage, the fault should be in the matrix section. It is inside an Ic. Philips usually uses TDA series Ics in chroma section. Check the Ic pin voltages according to service manual and try to rectify the fault. It needs a technical knowledge and skill.

Picture is too red

sounds like you may have a bulb out, you can pull the screen off to access it but you have to very careful with the screens or you will damage them, only clean with isopropyl alcohol and of good quality, there will be three bulbs in there, red blue green, their location and direction is very important, so dont move them, if they all work clean then put the screens back on, and see if you can adjust the direction from the menu

Only red tube shows picture, but green & blue are on, just no pic

More likely the problem is the blue and green fluid in the tubes is so cloudy that its distorting the image. Get a fluid kit from www.tvrepairkits.com

My screen has a wave in it/red convergence won't adjust

You have convergence output failure. The output ICs will need to be replaced and possibly a small component like a resistor or two as well. Expect to pay a service company $350-$450 to resolve this.

The colour is off and the conversion

You have a problem with the blue and green tubes having a fungus growing across the face of the tube, thus blocking the light/picture. This will cause the color to be way off and the focus as well. Need to have the fluid changed in blue and green tubes. The red never seems to be affected...must be the red wave lenght inhibits the growth of algee or something. Anyway....That's what you need, not the convergance chip STK's. Trust me on this. T.V. tech. for over 20 years...see this ALL the time. Good luck.
