Question about Sony Handycam DCR-TRV510 Digital Camcorder
I had the same problem with my camcorder. I removed the tape transport control from the top of the unit (be careful not remove the attached ribbon cable). It appeared that the ribbon cable attachment was bent a little. I straightend it out and reset it in the camera and re-attached the transport. Once this was complete I returned power to the unit and pushed the door closed and the trap door closed in place.
I was also having a problem with the unit not wanting to play the tape. I was getting Error Code C:31:XX or C:32:XX. I read in another forum that several people with same error message tapped or hit the tape side of the unit (similar to the way a television would be hit to try and get a signal). I had previously called Sony but the repair would be about half the cost of the camera ($500) and a repair shop quoted me $400. With nothing to loose I smacked the side of the camera a few times and belive it or not "IT WORKDED!!!" Something mechanical must have been out of line or loose. Unfortunately I purchased a New JVC Hard Disk camcorder prior to trying this, so now I have two perfectly good units.
