Want to run a desktop and a laptop wireless

Try plugging the desktop into another router port. Recycle the router. Set both your desktop and laptop to obtain IP address automatically. Make sure router is dynamically assigning IP addresses. Make sure your Domain and Workgroup settings are the same on both machines. Those are just a few ideas. :) Hope it helps.

your dell needs a network adapter card or wireless card installed is that the case(look in b ack)

if no wireless, then it needs an ethernet cable plugged into modem/router from cin bell and then in back of dell

You will either have to put a wireless card into your desk top or you will have to run CAT 5 wire from the router to the device.

It is possible that since your reset your router that the settings is more likely to be reset as well then you will have to connect using an ethernet cable direcly from the lptop to your router to turn on the wireless capability of your Belkin router.

You will need to get your router's Default gateway to get in the router and turne the wireless capability on it. Most probobly the IP address of your Belking would be 192.168.2.1 type this in IE on the address bar then press enter this should lead you into the router "Belkin" make sure that your are connected using ethernet from the laptop to your Belking router to be able to do this.

Well, actually... it might help to turn the router off and then on again. Sometimes power-cycling the router can reset it, which might need to be done. I'm a big fan of the power-cycle; it works for all sorts of obscure problems.

Once the router is on again, use the laptop and adapter to check for wireless networks. If you still can't find a network, disconnect the ethernet cable from the back of the desktop computer, and try the wireless adapter with the desktop PC. If it works, the problem is with the laptop (possibly a power supply problem). If it doesn't work, the problem is either the adapter or the router.

Ideally you should then try your adapter with a friend's router. Eventually you will discover whether the router is playing up or whether the adapter is faulty.

In my (admittedly still limited) experience, connection problems are rarely about faulty equipment and more usually about incorrect settings, so it might also be worth running the New Connection Wizard from Network Connections in the Control Panel.

Desk top to internet is OK.
How about Destop through Router connection to Internet OK?
Assuming you want to connect wireless from Lap top to Network, need to configure correctly for wireless in Router.
If you connect Lap top to router by wire and it didn't work that mean your router is bad.

Is it a wireless router?

from each laptop: at the Browser Address Bar in Internet Explorer type 192.168.0.1..enter

this will let you know if you are talking to the router.

You will need to first allow sharing of files and folders.

Then, in Windows Explorer, right click the directory of the files you want to share.

Then, on the computer that you want to access the shared files of the other computer, you will need to login to that computer by scrolling down to Computers near me and finding the computer you want to access. Login.

At least that how I do it.

There is only two ways to possibly connect both the desktop and the laptop in the network. That is to purchase a router so you can connect them both or a route with a wireless and then the laptop (Which most new ones have a wireless capability installed) can connect wireless from anywhere in the home. If you already have a Cable or DSL Modem it may have a wireless capability. Otherwise you would have to get a wireless modem. Hope this helps. Bud

Hi sheena -Is your desk top hooked up throgh the router? If not, plug your modem into the wan port on the router. The router should have come with a couple of short cables, most likely blue and yellow. Use the blue to connect your modem to your router. You can check the manual just to be sure. Use the ethernet cable that had been connecting your desk top to your modem, and plug into one of the wired ports on the router. I imagine you'll be using wireless for your laptop. Make sure that it is on. Put the cd in your desk top and run from there. Follow the directions. If you need more help just add a comment and I'll be glad to assist you further.
