Question about Sony Grand WEGA KDF-55WF655 36" Rear Projection HDTV
I just moved and don't know if the move may have damaged my tv. It is 2 1/2 years old Sony kdf-55wf655. The TV will stay on for about a min, perfect picture and sound...then it turns itself off. The green standby light flashes about 30-32 times. Then the TV turns back on...piture first, the green light flash about 7-8 more times the the sound comes on. The green light becomes steady for about a min. Then it starts over again. Any ideas of what would cause this to happen and if it could have happened on the moving truck?
Had exact same problem with my KDF-55WF655 and put in new projection bulb assembly and no more cut out plus picture is much brighter even on standard. Next time will just by bulb and install in old assembly as it looks straight forward now that I know what assembly looks like. Got about 7200 hrs. out of OE projection lamp and almost 4 years service.

If picture quality is poor, be sure you aligned the bulb in the correct manner and be sure the cover for the bulb is not loose. Also, you might want to re check you picture setting as it might have gotten reset when you pulled the plug (I hope you pulled the plug when replacing the bulb).
Heres another solution (maybe temporary) to the problem of no picture and no sound for 30 seconds. I had my tv's power saving setting on "standard" before. After I switched it to "reduced", the problem was fixed. It has been almost two weeks without the problem. I think its a good fix until the new bulb comes in the mail.

Sounds like a loose connection. I would try making sure the wire harnesses are all secure in their clips.

Changing the bulb is the best solution, Changing the power consumption settings is only a temporary fix and you should always have a replacement bulb on hand.
Bulb life really depends on how many hours of use it has. If you watch tv more or turn it on and off frequently, bulb life will decrease. That is why people have problems as early as 2 years and some 4 to 5.
Currently I still have my original bulb that came with the TV. I had problems with it in January and its now June. But I do have a new bulb ready.

Guess, I'm the 6th person to report the same problem in the past month. I started experiencing this about 4 months ago, but by changing the power consumption mode from normal to reduced my TV worked fine, until today. Now it won't stay on for more than a minute. Great Job Sony - $3500 for a TV that works for two years.

Update.....as suggested by a few people I replaced the lamp,(bulb) and sure enough, back to normal. Thank you all for your help. Oh...it was an easy fix too.. me just a few seconds. Thanks again

1/31/2010 So loved my Sony KDF55 Wf6555 bought it 1/2005. Had to replace the lamp 5/2009 the guy couldn't believe it lasted so long... 4 months later went again... not happy, of course only a 90 day warranty so I again spent the $ for another lamp w/ prayers I could get at least a year...nope just 4 months!!!! I am so upset. I found the lamp online for $84 -90 where did everyone get there's? The TV place chargeded me $199

The detail of your fault is given below according to the SELF DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
The description is given below:
6 : Low B error When no "DD 6V " is detected, pin 129 of TV-micro is low and it turns off the main power.
This problem is little bit technically difficult, therefore i advise you to please contact any expert who can handle this or contact SONY SERVICE CENTER.

This would be an error code indicating a problem. You didn't mention if anything else was going on with the TV as in no picture, or no sound. If the TV is operating just fine, there could be a bug in the software causing this. If there is a problem, the best thing would be to contact Sony and relay that error message and go from there.
