If the domain controller has DNS server service running, then yes, you should also install DHCP service to it, so it will automatically assing the IP, and DNS settings.

What is bkhost server name?

What is bkhost Name Server?
Each website is identified by an IP address. When you want to access any website, you will type IP into the browser bar. Because IP is extremely confusing and difficult to remember, "domain names" were born to help us.

However, the domain name cannot replace the IP address, it only serves as an intermediary to lead to the IP address you want to access. Therefore, a server is needed to perform the process of translating domain names into IP addresses, and that server is called the Name Server (or DNS Server) - the domain name server.

What are the characteristics of bkhost Name Server?
The Nameserver maintains a directory of domain names that match certain IP addresses (computers). Information from all names on the Internet is gathered in a registration center.

Therefore, the Name Server can allow users to access the website with a familiar domain name, instead of having to remember a complex series of IP address numbers.

Nameserves on-line can access information at registration centers up to 8 hours after registration of international domain names .COM and .NET time can be updated up to 48 hours for all names Other domain extension (sub-domain). This is the time period referred to as updating information between the Nameserver together.

If the DNS server is used to talk about the server system that has the DNS domain function, then the Name Server is the address of the DNS server cluster (DNS server).

What is DNS configuraion ?

DNS configuration is what you do to setup the name server for either a website or for your computer. Domain name servers find the IP (Internet Protocol). Everything that connects to the internt has an IP address. IP addresses are for location the machine. They are of the form xyz.xyz.xyz.xyz where xyz is a number between 0 and 255. A domain name would be something like fixya.com, which is easier for people to remember than the numbers. A Domain Name server translates the name to the numbers. Your ISP has one to do the the translation for you. For a web server (computer that hosts a website like fixya.com, the webhost has a Domain Name Server that allows the computer that runs the webserver to be found. Configuration in that case would be to allow the website to find other sites, and to be found by other sites. For your computer, it would be like this, if you are running windows xp: Change DNS Settings in Windows XP

I am trying to get online but everytime i click the entrnet explorer it just says dns error i dont know what to do

A "DNS" server is a "DOMAIN NAME SERVER" -- you feed it a name, such as 'www.ebay.com', and it returns an IP-address. Then, the Internet "routes" your traffic to that IP-address, and eBay's web-server responds to your request, and sends a web-page to your IP-address.

A "DNS error" means either:
* there is no IP-address associated with the name, as you spelled it, e.g., 'ww.ebaay.co', or,
* your computer could not connect to the DNS-server, and so could not send the query,
* your computer does not know the IP-address of the DNS-server, and thus has "nowhere" to send your DNS-query.

Oops! This page appears broken. DNS Error - Server cannot be found.

The servers are located in the network by using it's ip address.
Using names for the domains is easier for humans.
A Domain Name Server (DNS) keeps track of the server ip address related with the domain name.
When an error occurs finding the corresponding ip address for the domain name, youll get the message "Oops! This page appears broken. DNS Error - Server cannot be found.".

What is the primary DNS and secondary DNS?

There are two basic types of DNS - primary DNS and secondary DNS, which are generally applied to each newly registered domain. They are name server computers where the record of your domain name is stored. The information on both servers is identical. The two DNS values are usually configured by your ISPor hosting provider and given to you as a very important part of your domain registration order details.

In general, domain names can work with only one name server - the primary DNS. However, practice has shown that a domain name needs to have at least two name servers assigned in order to be available at any time. In case there is a problem with the primary name server, the secondary name server will be able to answer the online request for a particular domain. This back-up requirement has turned into an accepted Internet standard that prevents domain names from going offline.

Make additional DNS

Yes, all Windows Servers have the option to install DNS.

Set up a second Windows server and configure it to be a secondary server for your DNS domains on you current server.

Add the second DNS server's IP address to the secondary DNS field to your DHCP scope options and to all computers with static IP configuration so they will use it when your primary DNS is unavailable.

Don't underestimate Window's built-in Help and Support. It will help you install DNS and configure it.

Good luck.

DNS Name resolution Between private & Public network.

You do not need to configure ISP's PTR records. Instead define their DNS addresses as forwarders in the properties of DNS server under forwarders tab and flush DNS cache.

Problem in reboot the server in domain

This sounds like a common DNS issue. You need to make sure that this server has a local DNS server like 192.168.1.1 and not an external one like 4.2.2.2.

Your server is trying to find the domain controller and with the external DNS it cannot. This is why when you remove the cable it loads correctly. it assumes that it is disconnected from the local network and it continues without the domain controller. otherwise it waits for the external dns to time out.

First timer installing a Server network

Well i'm just going to start where i would start. First off, how do your machines on the network get their IP? DHCP?

Is the first listed DNS server the AD server? 192.168.1.1?

Also make sure your using case sensitive domain information when your trying to connect. It is rare but i have had that be my trouble.

I have remote software available and would love to help you fix this hands on if possible. I live for network problems ;)
