Wd 52525 error code 34 lamp abnomality

Hello,

I think we had a power surge and now our wd-52525 has a red light, when it asked if we had changed the lamp (it was changed in sept 07) i replied yes and on the over the air picture it is green with halo's but shows the lamp is working. On our Dish feed though, it is static only without sound. Could this possibly be the capacitor (sp?) problem that other's have had recently? Also, I have the back off now, but don't know how to get to the board to see the capacitor's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I did that step and it said that it was error code 34 - Lamp Abnormality. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Well, after researching it looks like bad capacitor's are the typical problem and the WD 52525 alerts you to that problem with the lamp replacement light. After seeing the bad capcitors (there were 2 obvious ones) it looks like my problem is very much like the other owner's with this problem. 2.5 years no problems and then all of the sudden, there is a static screen and the red indicator on the lamp button.

    I have ordered the replacement capacitors and will let you know how this turns out. This television was manufactured in 2004/2005.

    I have a mitsubishi wd 52525 with a code 34. I read about the capacitors going bad so I took my TV apart to look at them, they look fine, is there a way to test them? I am waiting for a new lamp to come.

    yes capacitors can be tested, you need a digital multy meter with the ability to test capacitors (i got mine at Harbor frieght for $29) most important things to remember 1caps are designed to store electricty so be careful handling them and 2 the can only be tested out of the circuit so you will have remove the suspected caps from the circuit board in order to test them. also note how they came out there is a +and - leg on caps, reverse installation will cause immediate failur

The capictor problem is mostly for WS models
you can locate the dm model from this link
http://www.fixya.com/howto/h159332-mitsubishi_dm_board_repair
Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.

For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.

Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:

12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected

You have to take the TV apart. Pull the electrical chassis out and look for bad electrolytic caps on the boards. sounds like caps on the power supply board are bad. You can tell if they are bad by the fact that their tops are puffed up and they may or may not be leaking brown fluid. Compare them against the other caps on the boards and you will see how they have flat tops.

BUT before you take the TV apart you can check the error codes by pushing "menu" and "Device" at the same time and holding for about 10 seconds. The status light will blink two numbers. ex. one flash pause two flashes is 12 Error Code Probable Cause

12 No error detected
22 Recovery from momentary Reset
32 Lamp Cover open
33 Air Filter Cover open
34 Lamp abnormality
35 Chassis Fan failure
36 Exhaust (Back Cover) or Lamp Ballast Fan failure
37 Engine (DMD or Lamp) Fan failure
38 Excess Lamp Temperature
39 Excess DMD Temperature
41 Short Detected
44 DVI Cable (between Chassis and Engine) disconnected

Hello, I have a 52525 and the lamp indicator went

push the menu and device buttons on the front of the set both in together and hold for 6 seconds and see what two digit error codes blinks. It will most likely blink a 3 pause then 4 and then repeat the sequence indicating a 34 error for lamp abnormality which is almost always caused by faile capacitors on the Power pwb.

I replace the bulb and I'm getting a blinking error code 3 4. How do I fix? Mitsubishi WD-52525

That code can often be caused by failed capacitors on the power board which will cause the 34 error for lamp abnormality. The V26 Power repair kit at www.tvrepairworld.com may fix that issue. The kit contains the replacement capacitors and has the CD with instructions.

Changed lamp now we have no picture and red light under status, how do we fix ?

If you press the menu and device buttons on the front panel and hold for 5 seconds the led will blink a two didgit code such as a three blinks pause briefly then a four blink pause then repeat which in that case would be a 34 error for lamp abnormality which is usually caused by bad capacitors on the power board. Let me know what the error code is and i will assist you with the problem.

Mitsubishi WD 52525 lamp replaced, no picture, red light

You have to take the TV apart. Pull the electrical chassis out and look for bad electrolytic caps on the boards. The red LED probably means the 2 - 3300UF caps on the power supply board are bad. You can tell if they are bad by the fact that their tops are puffed up and they may or may not be leaking brown fluid. Compare them against the other caps on the boards and you will see how they have flat tops.

WD-52525 Red lamp Indicator

usually with that model when you get a 34 eror code for lamp abnormality, its directly related to the capacitors on the Power Pwb. You can get the V26 Power PWB repair kit at the following link which repairs that issue. It contains the replacement High temp capacitors with the board location numbers and PWB identification as well as the service manual on CD. Heres the link its under their repair kit ctegory.
