Can't get info. for my player!

I bought a MP3 player for my daughter for christmas and for some reason when she turns it on she can't use the movie, music, or photo options. We keep getting a disk error message. I went through the manuel and it said that we should upgrade the firm ware but we can't find what to upgrade to or where from. The thing dosen't have a name or model # anywhere on it we checked the manuel and the box it came in. All it says is Digital MP#$ Audio Player but I can't seem to find A company named that. Its just used as a way to describe many players. It came with a disk and I've been through it about 10 times things seem to be downloading in to my computer but they don't help the problem. The manuel also states the firmware is available from their web site but they don't list an address or a company name!!! This is so frustrating!!! Do you think you can help?
