Question about Philips 42PF9996 42 in. HD-Ready LCD Television
I purchased four of these TVs on the same day at costco. It was October 06'. The first one went out in November 07' (just out of warranty) Contacted Phillips they said it was most likely a power supply problem. The repairs are over $800.00 only paid $1200.00 for the damn TV. So I went and just bought a Visio for $997.00. Now all four of the Phillips have gone out with exactly the same problem (but phillips will tell you it's rare). Turn on power hear a click, green light comes on, then begins flashing red. Has anyone yet to find a solution for this or should someone form a website to file against Phillips this is rediculous. FYI these were purchase for my corporate office coference rooms.
This problem is related to two failures, one is the Power Supply Board, another one is the Y-Main Board. Troubleshoot procedures:
1. Disconnect the Vs Power Supply cable from the Power Supply Board,
2. Turn on the tv and check the Vs voltage on Power Supply Board,
3. If the Vs voltage is there, then the Y-Main board failed.
4. If the Vs is not there, then the Power Supply Board failed.
