S-video problem for inspiron 6000
Hi,
You will have to look at your TV to see what type of interface it has for PC connectivity, this is because there are 2 types of Video out on the laptop, first the s-video and secondly VGA (D-SUB).
I would recommend the VGA connection as the quality of the picture will be much better than s-video, so you will need a male to male VGA cable if your TV takes that interface (a male to male mini stereo cable is also required for audio)
If your TV only supports s-video then you are stuck with that interface until you upgrade your TV.
If you need anymore help in this matter please don't hesitate to post back.
Regards
Have you tried the lcd/crt button on the laptop (I think it's the F8 key on the Dell)?
If that did not help, did you go to Display Properties/Advanced to check the settings? Here's a link that may help: http://www.svideo.com/delltech.html
Did you change the source on the TV so it was looking at the input from the S-Video connector?
It's always nice if you confirm what you've tried and did not work on these posts. It's also great if you tell us what actually worked so the next person with this problem can learn from you.
