Question about Insignia NS-DV2G MP3 Player

1 Answer

Video Issues I used the ArcSoft Media Converter software to convert a movie. That worked fine, I copied the file onto the device. It played for a few seconds and then the player froze up, making a high pitched squealing sound. I had to use a safety pin to reset the player. Has anyone else had this problem, and what could I do to fix it?

I have converted every video with every converter with every file the insignia player will support. When watching video the video will freeze anywhere from every 15 seconds to every 2 minutes. When froze the movie will stop and make a very high pitched squealing sound. This has led me to believe that there is a defect with the device itself.

I can't get my downloaded video files to transfer onto my device

it does work with vista, the reason it won't convert, is because you do not have the latest video codecs on your computer.

Do a google search for software called Prism Video converter, it is free and if you try and convert a video file on this, it will automatically download the codecs you need to convert it to the correct format. Once it downloads the correct codecs, load up your arcsoft media converter for philips that your unit came with and convert it. You have to use this program or it will not play on your player.

I have tons of tv shows downloaded, etc, and had to do it this way, AND I am using vista. Good Luck.

How do you put videos onto an 8gb gogear philips mp3 player?

You have to use the Philips (Arcsoft) Media Converter to convert and transfer video files to the Philips GoGear. Because the software likes to play a preview of the movie, you may have to download additional codecs to make it work. Copyright-protected or DRM-encrypted video files are not compatible with the GoGear.

Why do i have to pay for support when i bought the product

Sounds like Philips reached an agreement with Arcsoft. Since the video conversion software is Arcsoft's, Philips does not support it. The last time I remember, Arcsoft charged for most tech support. Welcome to corporate America.

Download the upgraded version of the Philips (Arcsoft) Media Converter from www.usasupport.philips.com. If the upgraded version still does not recognize certain file types, download a free program called Riva FLV Encoder - it is supposed to be a program that converts video formats to FLV format, but it has the neat feature of being able to do the opposite. Any video file that the Philips does not recognize can be converted to AVI format using Riva. Make sure the audio feature is enabled in Riva or you will get picture and no sound. Once it is converted to an AVI, the Philips Media Converter will see it, and you can either convert the file to a folder, or you can transfer it directly to the GoGear. Note: the Philips Media Converter will not properly convert video files that are longer than 15 minutes long - in order to transfer an entire movie, you will have to use video editing software to break the long file into 15-minute chunks. You will then have to convert the chunks using the Philips Media Converter.

Philips GoGear SA3245 not playing converted videos

Get the updated version of the Arcsoft Media Converter from www.usasupport.philips.com. Even so, you will need to split the video into 15-minute chunks, and convert the smaller chunks. This player is really for shorter, YouTube-style videos.

8 mm video transfer

Dear FixYa-People,

yes, I (alone !) already solved this problem !!! Here the way:

I used not the Media converter software, but Showbiz DVD 2, a software by Arcsoft in the bundle of MSI MiniVox USB as software too. There is a button "Work on, make a Video" and then "Transfer video from wich device" and so on ...
The Converter Software is really only for convert file formats and not for convert videos between devices. What a misunderstanding ... ! (The "Error"-Message reffered on the Mediaplayer after the convert ...)

Best greetings

I dont know how to put a movie/video onto my philips go gear 4GB

Use the Arcsoft Media converter that came with the installation CD - also available at www.usasupport.philips.com

Click Add Files

Find the folder with the video files in it

If you don't see the file that you are looking for, it is in FLV or some other format that the converter doesn't recognize - in this case only, download an FLV to AVI converter (or whatever the case may be) and convert them to AVI format. THEN, run them through the Philips/Arcsoft Media Converter

You can save the converted files to a folder, or load them directly to the GoGear - by selecting "add to device"

Boo-yah!

Hmm, what software are you using to convert your movie? and do you have the same problem if you copy a movie directly from a DVD? try doing that if you haven't already.

The supplied convertion software is awful, very badly written and a waste of time, I use "Arcsoft MediaConverter" it works well is fast and is just a simple drag & drop interface.
