Question about Hitachi 50V500 50 in. HD-Ready LCD Television
Check the lamp switch that is located inside the door. Place the lamp in, and stick a flathead screwdriver in the slot (just make sure it moves) hold it there, and turn on the Tv. If that doesn't work check the new lamp, is it a generic lamp, if so they dont always work. If you still have your old orig lamp, take the old lamp out of that housing, and out the new lamp in the old housing. This should fix the problem.

As a follow up to my problem with the blinking red lamp light, I did check the lamp switch and actually pulled it back to be sure it was making contact as well as the switch inside the lamp box. What I found out was that you need to put a little extra pressure on the lamp box when you insert it and I actually felt a click as the electrical connector seated together which I did not do the first time. I tightened up all screws and covers and everything worked again. Found out that the new lamp doesn't fix the red blob or the blue light in the center of the screen. I will tackle that one next with Hitachi?????
