Re: Suction

There is a float in the water collection chamber that closes off the opening below the filter. Make sure that the float is moving freely and the hole under the filter is not obstructed. Reply if this is not the problem, I have one sitting here that I can look at for other possibilities.

Hoover nano cyclonic shut off while in use/no suction when turned back on

That is more than likely the problem, NEVER put wet or even damp filters back into your vac

Lack of suction at power unit

Check that the Handle has a slider to adjust air flow, Electrolux Vac's arent really designed for carpet cleaning, check hose for breaks or cuts and everything is secure, while its on run your hands all over the hose and vac to locate any air flow that should not be.

Let me know.

Why does my steamvac not suction the water up?

Typically there is a little red filter accessible from the bottom of the cleaner. Lay it down and flip it over to take a look. It's a little screen like filter. Large particles than can possibly cause a clog are filtered out there. Just pull it out (it will only come out part way) and clean the debris from it.

I have a Hoover Steam Vac also. Learned that trick the hard way. If that's not the problem (it usually is) then I will need the model number from your machine. Hopefully they didn't put it on the bottom of the machine where the numbers wear off. That's where mine was.

Leaving bigger dirtier wet spots after cleaning

Sounds like the vacuum motor is defective or you have a clog in the vaccum line. Basically everything is running except the vacuum "Suction" cycle. Do you hear the "Suction" phase (light indicator) during operation when it loudens like a whine? That would be the vacuum phase. Is the dirty water reservoir clean, do you rinse it thoroughly when you empty it? Have you removed the hose assy and rinsed it out? I think it is still part of the auto cycle even if you don't use the manual tool.

It's plugged!

If it happened suddenly, you have a jam somewhere. Unhook the hose to see if it's in the hose or the unit.

If it happened over time then it's likely dirty or full. Wet dirt can accumulate near the blower and inhibit suction. Cleaning the filter is almost always a good idea.

Best to you, Jidza

Obstruction in the hose?
Your vac has developed a hairball possibly.... when a piece of flexible media ie.... cardboard, plastic etc... gets lodged in the hose, and begins collecting hair & dust to the point it no longer has enough draft to pull debris from the floor.
Here is a video that you may find useful

PS I Thought DYSONS were guranteed to NOT lose suction? What a RIP!

Little suction in craftsman canister style carpet/floor cleaner

you might have a leak on the suction side...perhaps the housing is not properly secured, or there is a **** in the black plastic hose.

Wet dry vac suction not woking

The wet and dry vaccuums should normally have the dust filter removed when used for wet work. If the filter was left in, it will certainly be clogged and useless. I would suggest trying the unit with no filter, just to check there is good suction. If there is, a replacement filter is required. If there is still little or no suction, then it is possible that there is a blockage within the impeller area somewhere. Wet dust/dirt tends to stick really well to the impeller blades, reducing their efficiency to point of almost no suction. I'm not sure if you can get that far into your unit, if you can, it would be worth using a stiff brush to remove and adhered debris.
