Question about Philips HTS3500S System

1 Answer

Keeps turning itself on

I've got a Philips HTS3500s cinema system and it keeps turning itself on! I'll come in from work and it'll be on when I am 100% sure it was off before I left.
It's hooked up to a Philips plasma TV via a fairly good Scart lead and occasionally turns on whilst flicking channels.
Any ideas?????
Cheers!
Also while I'm at it, does anyone know how to adjust the volume on this from my TV remote? I press the 'select' button on the TV remote and DVD lights up (and is still on) it allows me to do every function EXCEPT adjust the cinema systems volume!

I want to connect my Philips HTS3357 Home Cinema System to my Panasonic PT-AE900E LCD Projector, How do I go about putting it altogether so it works with my xbox360/PS3

Generally speaking, if your Home Cinema system is able to pass-thru video as well as audio, you'll want to take the HDMI cable from the XBOX video out, into the Home Cinema system's input (any HDMI input should be fine), and then run the HDMI video out to your projector. Any other devices you want to be able to project as well (DVD/BluRay, PC, Cable, Satellite, etc.) would also be plugged into the Home Cinema system as "in" devices, like the XBOX.

When you want to display one of those devices, you would select that "in" port's input name in the Home Cinema system (for example, if the XBOX is connected to the HDMI in that is labeled "aux", you will switch the cinema system to Aux Input, and the projector should immediately begin getting the signal from the theatre system. To switch to another device, you simply change the Input channel on the Home Cinema.

The audio also, providing the device (the XBOX) can carry it on the HDMI cable, will also be delivered to the Home Cinema. Some devices cannot carry sound on HDMI (though many can). For those, you will need to run an HDMI cable for the video, and also an optical cable or other type of audio-only cable, for its audio. You do not need to run an audio cable to the projector though, as the projector is only for video. The Home Cinema will take care of the sound itself.

Philips HTS3500S System power

It is possible that the amplifier had encountered a fault with a higher current drain which had triggered it to a protection fault condition. The fault can be with your output drivers. Please check for short on the outputs fitted for both the channels. Use a meter after disconnecting to check for short in the drivers. Disconnect the positive and negative voltages to the output and see if the protect changes. Even a fault in the preamp stages that drives in high current into the output can shut the Amplifier. Sometimes this can be a noise which can be a HUM or HISS before the protect works. Faulty capacitors in these circuits also can cause similar issues and needs close observation. You need to confirm and replace the specific stages or outputs. If not there can be issues in the mother board. Maybe the protect circuit by itself is shutting off due to a faulty bias or there is a leak in any voltage/current sensing circuit. Also disconnect the speakers and test, if the amplifier comes out of the protect mode then check for short on the speakers.

The driving belt of my Philips HTS3500S is broken. How can I get hold of spare parts?

Take the original one into a shop that sells spares for washing machines or vacuum cleaners and just match the length and width to the ones they have available. It is just a reinforced rubber band- you just need to get one that fits. Washing Machines and Vacuum cleaners use belts as well and these tend to be stronger so they last longer.

When I turn on my Philips lx8500w dvd player my wireless internet stops working, what may be the problem?

the lx8500w uses the same frequency as the wireless (2,4Ghz). I bought the same system, it's ********. Just problems and after 2 years it doesn't work anymore (goes to standby after 1 hour or so). Try to change the wireless channel. Or buy another home cinema...

DVD player suddenly stopped working

Turn unit off and unplug, then plug back in and keep finger on eject button, and then hit the power button.  Nothing?  Get your phillips screwdriver and remove the shell.  Then retrieve you disc.  While your in there look for signs of a burned capacitor off the ic port chip and take a little glass cleaner and clean the optical lens with a micro fiber cloth.
