Need a little more information. Im assuming all the components are still in the laptop. What is the screen displaying when the system boots up. Might need to set the boot order to boot from cd drive to start installing the new windows software. to do this you have to go in to the bios to set this. If you dont know how to do this reply back.

According to the specs of your laptop it has a 40 gig hard drive and 256mg of memory. The memory alone is not enough to run windows xp correctly. You need a mimimum of 512 mg. Your laptop will support 1 gig of memory. The hard drive is sufficiant for basic use. Sounds like your hard drive is full. Check to see how much drive space is free. Click on start then Click on my computer and slide your curser over c drive it will tell you what size and free space your hard drive. If it does not show size left click and click on properties this will show you. If it is full go to ad and remove programs on the top left click on it this will show you all programs loaded in the hard drive you can unistall these programs here to free up space on your hard drive. Just be carefull what you uninstall all your drivers and software for your laptop is in this folder. Here is the website for the specs of your laptop

It is possible the last person who had the laptop could of changed the hard drive to a smaller gig drive. To check exactly what size drive you have you will need to get into the bios. when you restart the computer look on the bottom left hand corner before windows loads see what key to press to get into bios. some use delete key. when you get into bios go to basic information or other programs just becarefull if your not used to bios try not to change anyting. you should find the drive and see what size you have.

You should be able to use someone else's Windows CD as long as you match the version. If you are supposed to have Home use a home CD or of your sticker says Pro use the Pro CD.

It would be best to use the Toshiba CDs or DVD that came with the system though if you have it.

My favorite program for cleaning the crud out of a computer is CCleaner. Google for and and run it, it will remove all the unnecessary temporary files from your computer. Might clear a few gigs of space.

Another program that could help is windirstat, it will map out your hard drive and show you your biggest files. You will be able to see if there are movies or music filling our your space.

I still think that your best bet is to reinstall windows fresh and formatting the hard drive in the process, that way you get rid of everything and start over anew.

How can I open my Samsung when it is asking for a specific person's password that I do not know

You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program. Click on one of these links to download HIREN'S BOOTCD :-

System perfomance monitor : Warning

Best solution I have is to download and install Adaware, Spybot Search & Destroy, and Rogue Remover. Google these three and get the latest free versions. None of them will remove everything alone, but the combination is very effective. You might also consider changing your anti-virus software, personally I like AntiVir, but that's a personal choice.
All of these programs are free, and I use them quite a bit.

Good luck!
