You might need to program the frequency, code (interference eliminator) and QT filter (if any) to match one another. We are posting a link to the user guide below. The best choice for simple operation is to set the code and Qt filter settings to off (zero). This will allow you to have basic operation before adding in any special features.
You didn't mention whether or not you have software to handle the download/programming. If you don't already have it, you'll need a package such as ARC-XT or ARC-XT-PRO from BuTel, along with a premium subscription to RadioReference. Once you have the software installed you just click "DOWNLOAD," select the systems that you want to add to the scanner, and then sit back and listen. The "PRO" version of the software also allows you to control the scanner from your PC, log activity, and even record conversations on your hard drive. I have the system running on a BCD396XT and a BCD996XT, and it's fantastic!
