I have sansa sandisk reburb 2GB mp3 player, it shows refresh data base, please tell me about the action, thanks, bharat

That action happens when you add more files in it! At the first time after you have inserted new files, the player will be checking and creating the list of the files it has inside! Depending on how much data you have changed/added, this process can take up to 10 minutes!

I took all my old music off and now it wont hold my new music it tells me to refresh and free up space. and it says data base had to be repaired?

Try a reset to factory defaults, other then that I can't help as you need to specify the make and model of your MP3 device, a good habit to get into when posting online with any repair or technical issue.

Sansa e250 screen is stuck on refresh database

Press the "lock" button to where the Orange is showing. Then press the record button on the left side of the MP3 for a bit. Try this several times. I did it twice and it worked! M.P.
