Tip & How-To about Samsung Star GT-S5233 Cell Phone

How To Install Java Games/Applications on Samsung Star

Ok, lets start. We will require 3 things
TKFileExplorerJar creator (optional, required only if your Java file ".jar" does not have a .jad file.Download here)

  • Java App/Game you want to install. :)Step 1 -> Download and install TKFileExplorer from here Also if you haven't installed PC STUDIO or the USB driver, now will be a good time to do that.Step 2 -> Open TKFileExplorer and go to Settings then choose COM. On Port, clickthe drop down menu and choose the only port that is visible (somethinglike port 5/port 6). In my case it was port 8. (IF COM PORT IS NOTPRESENT, TYPE IN MANUALLY.START FROM COM1,COM2.. so on)Step 3 -> On the bottom Left of TKFileExplorer, browse through these folders Exe -> Java -> Games.
Nowthat you are in Games, Create a folder on your machine with the name ofthe game & paste the .jar & .jad file in that folder. Now goback to TKFileExplorer & browse for that location where you havemade the folder right click & Select Download. Now open up your dial pad and enter the following, *#6984125*#.
Choose INTERNALS and enter the following, *#9072641*#.
Now scroll down and choose Storage Settings. Then Update Java DB, followed by update Apps database.

I can't open .jar/.jad files in my tab GT P1000

Jad & .Jar are usually associated with games/application files To open a .Jad you could use notepad to see what it contains.. the file itself acts like an address page for the .Jad to unload into the correct places withing a Java program .
JAR (Java Archive) and JAD (Joint Application Development) files are packaged
files containing games and applications that can be unpacked onto your cell
phone with the use of a personal computer. Unlike similar files used by
smart phones, JARs and JADs are used on older and cheaper phones since the file
size is always small and can be easily extracted in order to load a game or
application.
  1. Attach the Tab/phone to your computer with its USB cable.
  2. Click and drag the JAR or JAD files to the root (starting) directory of your Tab/phone. On some phones, you need to instead move these to a games or apps folder.
  3. unplug the USB cable from the phone and the computer.
  4. navigate to the "Applications" or "Games" directory on the phone, where you will see the JAR or JAD file.
  5. Select the option to run or install the file. The application will be on your Tab/phone and ready for use..

I am unable to install ani MIDlets on a Sagem Cosy phone. I've tried - simple copying to the phone and clicking on the file (both jad and jar), nothing happens - trying every option in the Entertainment -> Games and Entertainment -> Applications menus - there should be an options like "Install from a local file" - nothing - putting the files on a web server - failure, even after I've set the MIME types in the .htaccess file Is there anything else I can do?

1. Create simple html-file (put correct jar and jad names in href links): <html> <body>
<h1>Install Java Application</h1> <p>Select midlet to install</p>
<a href="./USBTest.jar"> USBTest.jar</a> <br> <a href="./USBTest.jad"> USBTest.jad</a>
</body> </html>
2. Copy created html-file and jars/jads to the same folder on the phone, e.g. Others folder.
3. On the phone, go to Multimedia and select your html-file - it will be opened in HTML browser.
4. In HTML browser, select link either for jar or jad - phone will start to install application. Note that installing from jad might not work due to missing certificates, etc. In this case, try to install jar file (just select jar-link in html browser).

how i can install java games in samsung sgh e250 via card reader problem:

I got a beautiful answr on d net surfn 4 yr questn ...

You will need a *.jad and a *.jar file for your game. 1) Download Softick PPP and Samsung Java Uploader.exe . Also JADmaker if required. 2) Install SoftickPPP according to this Polish website. I don't understand Polish, but the pictures tell enough of the story. Set up your bluetooth COM ports in the SoftickPPP bluetooth/serial settings. My Bluetooth COM ports are either 24, 25 or 26. I leave them all ticked. 3) Enter *#52828378# on the phone to access the Java Test Menu. Choose OTA type setting, choose Serial bearer OTA. Click select. (This seems to need to be changed back to GPRS bearer OTA for Samsung PC Studio to connect) 4) Start SoftickPPP. Click on cancel for the missing USBPort.dll error message. Accept bluetooth connections for DUN and Serial connections on the phone. 5) Choose 'Activate PPP' by right clicking on the icon in the taskbar. Accept connections on phone again. 6) Start 'Uploader.exe' and then add the required jad file. Leave the program open. 7) If you are not still in the Java Test Menu then enter *#52828378# on the phone again. Select 'Serial test', 'PPP Up', 'Bluetooth' on phone, 'Serial download'. My phone sometimes restarts at this point in which case I have to choose 'Shutdown PPP" in the taskbar icon and then re-activating it once the phone has restarted and then re-do step 7 after entering the Java Test Menu again. A Java splash screen should appear with a progress bar showing the upload of the file. The game then starts automatically

.Quote:
1) Type in the code *#9998*52824678255# (which reads *#9998*JAVAINSTALL# )
2) Your phone should return with 'Activated'
3) Now using Bluetooth or USB cable, connect to your phone (IR probably works too)
4) If you have a game as .jar, but don't have a .jad file, use JadMaker to create one (draw the .jar file to it and it will generate a .jad file for you).
5) Copy the .jar AND .jad file of the game into the map called "Other Documents" on your phone.
6) Now on your phone under 'My Files' browse to the 'Other Documents' map and doubleclick on the just copied .jad file.
7) The phone will ask you if you want to Install the game.
8) After Install you will find the game under Games on your phone.
9) You can now remove the just copied .jar and .jad file again (they were only there to install the game onto your phone).
