Toshiba Laptop Keys Not Working Right

Hi. I have a 3-year old Toshiba laptop. The keys have stopped working properly. The Cap key doesn't work, the space key doesn't work, others stick no matter how many times I hit them. I just installed a brand new keyboard, and the problem is the same, so it doesn't seem to be a hardware problem. I have an external keyboard plugged into the laptop and that works just fine. What can I do?

Re: Toshiba Laptop Keys Not Working Right

Complete system clean and optimization...possibly formate drive and reinstall windows...being that its an old pc, it probably is slow do to needing a good cleaning. if both those resolutions dont work then its the pc.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 and one day the three keys 'i', 'o' and 'p' randomly stopped working. What can be the problem? Can I fix it myself?

Try checking the keys in Command Prompt
Go to Start
type CMD in RUN
and type the keys and check if they work
If not go to device Manager
Click on Start
Type device Manager in Search Program and Files.
There will be a List and find Keyboard
Expand the Option
You will get the driver of Keyboard.
Right Click on it and click on uninstall.
Once uninstalled the driver will go away
Restart the PC once you reach the desktop it will automatically install the driver.
You will get the notification of driver installed.
It it installs successfully try using the keys that are not working.

Hope it helps

My Toshiba L505 ES5018 FN keys is not working

Hello. It's possible the driver for the wireless card(network interface controller) was not installed properly. Try to download the drivers from Toshiba website and install on your laptop. You may get the WiFi Driver from this link

There's two WiFi Driver available, try to use the Realtek first and if it doesn't work try the Atheros. If WiFi driver installed correctly you should no longer see the "!" symbol and you will be able to enable wireless on your laptop using FN key combination.

Hope this works for you.

Hi, i have a toshiba x205-s9800. my two year old seems to have accidently pressed some keys and disabled the keyboard...please help...

You could have deleted the keyboard in the device manager. If so, rebooting your computer and it will find it.
Are all the keys not working or just some? Take a look at this hint and see if it fits.
I do this for fun & feedback not $$$

Hello, I am trying to trouble shoot a Toshiba Satellite a70-s256 laptop. When powered up, the lights go on but there is nothing on the screen. I am attempting to use an external monitor to further...

Hi Barb,

On the Toshiba A70 you should try holding down the fn key at lower left and pressing the F5 key which is the video transfer keyboard command for pretty much every Toshiba laptop. Otherwise, their little pictograms on the F keys almost always have a tiny representation of a laptop next to a monitor.

Hope this is helpful.

My Toshiba Satellite A45 S120 keyboard has a problem, some of the keys are not working. When you type it does noting. Sometimes when you start the computer, it continuously types the letter eeeeeeee. You can hit some keys randomly and this will stop, but if you start a program (eg. ms word) the same thing happens.
