Question about Canon PIXMA MP160 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Pixma 160 computer won't recognize printer. USB ports work with other devices. USB cable appears OK. color cartridge light on. daughter was testing flash drive on different usb ports.

Chances are you reconnected the printer to a different USB port and your default is still set up for the other port...

Look at your printer settings and chances are it set up the printer again for the new port.

Either change your default printer or move the cable back to the original port.

You did not say what operating system you have on the computer but if you did not have problems with it before and this just started. If nothing has been changed and all the cables are ok, you need a new printer.

Printer not talking to desk top.

Please check usb cable first, make sure that it is ok. Then check usb port,move the usb cable to other port. Then check if usb cable and port are ok, try to connect other printer or device by using that usb cable and port. If works well means the usb port on printer got a problem. But if still not work the problem could be on usb cable or usb port on computer.
If you are sure that both the printer and computer are ok, try to reinstall the printer driver. Good luck!.

My office jet G85 won't print. No error messages appear,it has a new color cartridge,it copies, but won't print from my computer.

If it copies ok, then the issue is either the way it is cabled to computer or the print driver software settings on pc.... How is it connected via USB? Check port and correct driver is in windows/control panel/printers. Reinstall.

My computer is saying it is not connected to my Lexmark x2670 printer but I have everything connected. I need my printer! Help please.

I have just installed a refilled black ink cartridge (never given problems before)and printer green light flashing, won't print anything including test page and can't delete it (says it is offline) -...

Try turning both your pc and your printer off. then turn them on again. try taking out the black cartridge and try printing with the color one. if it prints, the black cartridge is the problem. If it still says "offline", and therefore you can not do anything, try replacing the usb cable. if that doesn't help, you can remove your printer's installation from your pc, and then add it again, that usually helps.

USB device not recognized

  1. Unplug the USB device. It is possible that the connection is not secure and has become loose. This is one of the most common reasons for an error in detecting a USB device.
  2. Use the Device Manager to scan for new and recently installed hardware. From the start menu, select the 'Run' option. In the pop up box, type in Devmgmt.msc and then click 'Ok'. From the 'Action' Mmnu, click 'scan for hardware changes'. This will make Windows recognize any new devices that are installed. Now, close all device managers and control panels. Now see if your computer will read the USB device.
If the above two doesnt work, then try the following,

Disable power management of the USB hub. To disable the power management,

1.Click Start, and then click Run
2.Type devmgmt.msc in the Open box, and then click OK.
3.Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers' node, and then follow these steps for each USB Root Hub that is listed:
4.Right-click the USB Root Hub and then click Properties.
5. Click the Power Management tab.
6. Click to clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box, and then click OK.

PS: If you perform the following procedure on a laptop computer, you may reduce the battery life.
