My brother MFC 665CW printer shows a 4F error and unable to clean. How do I get to the head to clean it?

Do the following to clean the print head:

1. Press INK key on the control panel.

2. Press the DOWN arrow key until CLEANING appears on the LCD.

3. Press OK.

4. Press the DOWN arrow key to select BLACK, COLOR or ALL depending on what you want to clean.

5. Press OK.

The machine will clean the print head. When cleaning is finished, the machine will go back to Ready automatically. If you are experiencing a print quality issue, we recommend you repeat the print head cleaning for each color showing an issue at least five (4) times.

If you are experiencing a print quality issue and want to see if the cleanings are improving the print quality, print a Print Quality Check Sheet (PQCS) after the first cleaning and then print another PQCS after repeating the print head cleaning steps at least three (3) more times (4 total cleanings). You can then compare the two Print Quality Check Sheets.

Do the following to print a Print Quality Check Sheet:

1. Press INK key on the control panel. TEST PRINT will appear on the LCD.

2. Press OK. PRINT QUALITY will appear on the LCD.

3. Press OK.

NOTE: The machine will generate the Print Quality Check Sheet (PQCS). On the PQCS each of the four colors is represented by a slanted square pattern made up of 96 individual blocks. The colors should appear (from left to right): Black - Yellow - Cyan - Magenta. Cyan is the light blue color and Magenta is the pinkish color.

Try clearing all paper from all carriages (Top,Rear, Front, etc. then reinserting proper amounts. Even the smallest piece of paper can cause a jam. Here is a user manual in case you don't have one you can get it here:

This is a PDF and it is searchable and easy to navigate (Red lettering will take you to that section), so you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader (if you don't already have it you can get free here:
Also, once you have done all you can turn the printer off for a moment then turn it back on.
Hope this helps. Good luck
If this helps you resolve your problem, please
consider giving me a good rating and a quick thanks

I have a brother MFC 5890CN printer and the yellow and magenta only prints a couple of squares on test after several cleans

It may be worth changing them again, you can on the odd occasion get a couple of duffers.

i would start afresh & do a head clean then a print test with a brand new set in.

If you get a perfect set of squares as the screen shows then its done if not repeat the head cleaning process untill you do, once you got those squares right your done.

My hp 4250 dtn printer is carying(repeating) about an inch of text down the page three times as if the fuser is not working on that particular portion only

From the servivce manual:

1 Inspect the drum for scratches or
other damage. Replace the print
cartridge for defects that repeat at
37.7 mm (1.5 inches), 62.8 mm
(2.5 inches), 54.0 mm (2.1 inches),
or 94.2 mm (3.7 inches).
2 Process a printer cleaning page.
See Running the cleaning page
3 If the problem persists, and the
defect repeats at 75.0 mm
(2.95 inches) or 94.0 mm (about
3.7 inches), replace the fuser (see

When printing a red line appears about every 8mm through the all of the page i am useing a epson rx630 fred

It means some nozzle not perfect. If you check nozzle, there is missing lines for some nozzle. Example : Print blue color ( 100% cyan + 100% magenta). If some point of cyan head is clog, the output will be shown that at some lines just show magenta. It repeated. Yous said every 8 mm, so, you must print it at best photo quality. If you have print at best photo quality, and lines still appear, it must some nozlle badly clog. Try do head cleaning, wait for 30 minutes. Check Nozzle.
