I have a ps3 and it doesnt turn on. Ive checked the switch in the back and tryed different outlets but i dont get a light.

Do you have the red light of death I wonder??? What happens when you switch on your ps3. Does the green light come on, then beep at you and then does it go back to the red light? If so your ps3 is knackered!

try connecting it with a different av cable or hdmi cable and see what happens. i wouldn't say it is a coincidence that all 3 tvs are not compatible but also ensure that they are high grade tvs that would probably support the graphics of the ps3. if it still doesnt work, try using your av cable for a ps3 system you know is working with a particular tv and see if it works. if it does, then you know you have to return the console to where it was bought or take it for repairs and let them check it out

There's a switch in the back, the only benefit of using the power button is that it can be turned back on with the controller. Dont use the switch when your game is saving or anything is downloading because you could corrupt the saved game/download (I don't think it'll let you turn it off from the front button when it's writing to the hard drive- the switch in the back actually cuts off the power.)

You officially have YLOD or "yellow light of death". I have had it twice.. I also wanted my data.. so I researched.. no matter what you do.. if you send it to sony its gone.. it cant be recovered outside of the ps3 or in a different one. I know a guy who will repair your ps3 leaving all your data intact for 80 dolllars.. he sells his service on ebay and if it breaks again within three months just ship it back to him and he'll fix it for free. Try holding down the power button for 2 beeps. This will reset the PS3 video to standard mode.

switch the hard switch off in the back of the ps3. unplug power cord... press and hold power button located on the front f the ps3 for approx 10 secs, then let it sit for a few, then hook it back up and turn the hard switch back on and try to power it back up.

I have had this happen once before but it did return to normal.

send it in for repair is you still have warranty.
If not you can purchase a power supply for about 40 bucks plus shipping and change it yourself (it is pretty easy). This will solve your problem if there is no lights whatsoever (not the green-yellow-red light).

you could have a problem with your power cord which is causing your ps3 to short before the system can power on fully. try using a different power cord or check the ports of both the outlet and the ps3 to make sure there is nothing blocking anything. also, try using a different outlet.

Please try the following and see if it helps:

• Unplug the PS3 and let it sit for approximately 10-15 minutes.
• After letting it sit, plug it back in and let some electricity get to the battery inside the system.
• Please wait 3-5 minutes, then turn it on.

You should try reseting the video setting.
When you have the PS 3 on Stand by (Red Light), press the reset button, but do not let go. The system will beep a few times and then go back into Stand By Mode(Red Light).
Reboot the system again and video should be back to normal throw the AV port.

I don't think the outlet you are plugging it into has enough power to support the ps3. Try plugging it into a different outlet and see if it works.
