Question about IBM ThinkPad T43 Notebook

Not charging When I plug my laptop into charge it is not charging. Do I need a new adapter or is it the charging port on the laptp itself? Also is this a common problem for the IBM T43?

Try to pull out the battery and run the laptop on the charger...if the laptop starts, then it's an issue with the battery....else have the charging port checked out by a certified technician.

Laptop not responding to AC jack being pluigged in so cannot charge laptop

Hi Geraldine,
Lets do some basic trouble shooting steps to find out whats going wrong with your computer.
It can be either your adapter or the charging port(where you plug in the adapter to the computer) or the whole computer itself.
Try connecting the adapter to some other laptop and check whether it works or you can try some other adapter on this laptop and check.
By that way you can determine whether it is the adapter or the laptop.

Also if it is the adapter, you have get a new one.
And if it is the laptop, it needs to be repaired.

I have an acer aspire one aand even though I plug it up it says (plugged in, not charging.) How do I make it charge?

Hi,
Welcome to FixYa!
Im very sorry to hear that, please follow these simple steps for you to be able to isolate the exact problem.

1. Removed the battery.
2. Connect the laptop directly to the power outlet without using the battery just for the meantime.
3. Turn on the laptop. If the laptop is able to power on, that means that the AC adapter is working fine as well as the DC port. If the laptop is not able to turn on, it maybe the AC adapter itself or the DC port.
4. Try to use another AC adapter if possible, make sure that that AC adapter is working fine. If the laptop is still not turning on, the problem is with the DC port itself. In that case, you will need to replaced the Motherboard itself.

Hope this will help...Thank you for using Fixya...

Battery is not charging

Hi, You maybe encountering errors such as plug in not charging or no battery detected. If so, there's a posibility that the problem is with the battery itself or the charger that you are using or worse, the DC port on the laptop. Here some steps for you to be able isolate the exact problem and which part is need to be replaced.
In that case, you will need to replaced the Motherboard or the Base Cover of the laptop itself.

Hellow Dear, My acer aspire 4935 laptop is not charging when plugged in & power button flushes along with charging LED near touchpad.Sometimes The horizontal led that lights when plugged in disappears...

First, you need to make sure your power adapter is providing enough power to both run the laptop & charge the battery. A very good way to do this is to compare your laptop voltage & ampere requirements (written on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop) with the voltage & ampere ratings of the power adapter. Voltages should be the same, or the power adapter's voltage about up to 0.5 volts more than the laptop's voltage rating. Amperage of the power adapter should be at least equal to or greater than the laptop's rating. It should never be less than the laptop's rating, or else the power adapter will be providing insufficient amperes to charge the battery. Of course, the power adapter's nominal amperage might be ok, but it degraded on usage. You can verify this by testing using a good or new power adapter.
If the battery did not charge using the new power adapter, take the battery off the laptop, & using a dry tooth brush, scrub in between the fins of the battery connector on the motherboard & on the battery it self, then put the battery back into the laptop & try again.
If this still did not resolve the problem, then the battery itself could be bad. Try it on another laptop, or try a good or new battery in your laptop.
If this did not work, there might be a possibility that the charging circuitry on the laptop's motherboard is defective & needs servicing. In order to do this, the laptop needs to be disassembled & the motherboard checked for defective/burned out components in the area near the DC jack. Any defective/burned out components found should be replaced, or you might need to replace the laptop's motherboard altogether.

My lonovo laptop won't charge. how do i fix it?

if ti works with the adapter plugged but the battery do not charge to work without adapter ..than the battery is dead and you need to replace it ..If it do not work without battery and just with the adapter ..it means tha adapter has an issue and try to check the plug ..the cable and the adapter itself..before buying another verify at the store with the laptop to see if the adapter is to blame ...and not the plug into the computer ..so you do not end up with 2 working adapters ..and still no charge ...If it is the plug itself ..then you have to change it ...you can get a spare part on the ebay..or just go to a repair shop ..cause they are pretty universal ...
