That´s probably the power button,the graphite coating underneath the rubber gets worn away.
i have some t288s with the same prob.

How are you measuring the battery voltage? Do you first remove the battery before measuring? If so, then the voltage you measure is open-circuit voltage and cannot be the correct loaded value. It could still be the battery. Try to hook up a jig of the rated power directly to the walkie-talkie battery terminals and see if the problem is solve. That would confirm the usefulness of the battery. Also, with one unit plugged into the charger try to see if the charging voltage comes up correctly. Rechargeables usually last a year or two (never mind what the maker says).
