Lacie 250 gb gives error while accessing some folders

My lacie is just under a year old and has loads of stuff on it. when i access some folders, the error message reads , "the drive is not ready for use; its door may be open. please check drive \devive\harddisk1\dr21 and make sure that the disk is inserted and that the drive door is closed".

Re: lacie 250 gb gives error while accessing some folders

I took mine to a place to get it fixed and they said it was beyond repair and the only option is to recover the data and transfer it onto another disk

When turned on LAcie hard disk is noisy, then asks formatting

Please try it on another computer. It seems to be a hardware issue with the drive in case you are hearing a noise coming from it. In case it is under warranty, please get it replaced ASAP.

Lacie extern. hard drive is recognized, but I can't access files

Try connecting the Lacie to another computer, if it doesn't work then the hard disk may need to be formatted using Disk Manager. I suggest you format as a primary partition in FAT32.
If it doesn't work then it is possible that the hard drive in the Lacie has failed.
To test the hard drive, remove it and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port. If it deosn't detect it as an external drive and you connot open folders and files then it is faulty.
You can install a new hard drive in the Lacie and then format in FAT32
There are companies that can recover data from faulty hard drives BUT it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services.

Computer does not recognize LaCie or give me a drive letter for it

is it a usb? have you tried another usb port?
you may need to remove the usb ports from the system and have the computer reinstall ( make sure you have the correct drivers before you do that).

Lacie Ethernet disk mini 500 Gb

I had exactly the same problem, no access to the windows media server - the no space message - and all my users missing from the user tab.

Following up from gogogo123's comment, we simply cleared the log and it was fine. I can only assume that there is an internal file size limit on the log file, and if it can't write your actions to the log then it doesn't do them!
