Re: formatting problems

Try formatting the card on a computer than again on the camera. If you don't have success formatting the card with a computer than it is a pretty sure thing that there may be something wrong with the card.

Camera won't format media

Here is the link to the user manual if you need it; First thing to try is cleaning the electrical contacts on the card, gently with a soft dry cotton cloth. Check page 138 of the manual for instructions to reset to factory default settings - also worth trying. Have you tried formatting the card on a PC instead of the camera? What type of card are you using? The camera is compatible directly with CF cards and Microdrives, and with an adaptor can use SD and MMC cards. Possible problems are generally different for each type of card. That said, if the card will not format on a pc, then unless it is somehow password protected or write protected (depends on card type), the fault must lie with the card. Only way to be absolutely sure is to try a new card in the camera, if that also doesn't format then there is a more serious problem. From what you have described so far, it sounds as if you have a CF card, and it is faulty - these cards do have a tendency to do this. Please post back with some more details so I can be more certain. Hope this helps :)

Can't format a memory card for my minolta damage

Some brands cannot be used by some cameras. You should stick with the big brand names like Sandisk.

Unable to use card

What size card is it? You should go to Konica Minolta USA Web-Site and look up your camera under discontinued products to see what the largest card your camera can handle as you may have a card that is to large for your camera format ....

Konica Minolta Z2 SDHC reading card

Spare yourself the trouble. I had researched it (I thought) and got one, and stuck it in. The screen read: "Unable to use," It continued to read this, even after I formatted the card, so I ended up giving it to my brother, who has a Kodak camera. Sorry!

What is the difference between Type-I and Type-II Compact Flash?

The size of Type-I is 36.4 (H) x 42.8 (W) x 3.3 (D) mm, which is the most popular type of Compact Flash card. On contrary, Type-II is 5.0mm in thickness. Some Type-II is designed not only for data storage including hard disk memory, but also for special purposes such as LAN or MODEM card, or parallel or serial connection.
