When you pllugged in the receiver, did you push the little button on it? Once you did that, did you turn the mouse over and push the little "connect" button? I'm assuming, of course, that you put new batteries in it! Also, I'm assuming that the USB port is working. You could always go into the device manager and see if the device shows up. If it does, delete it and try to connect it again. If all that fails, you have a dead mouse.
