Thanks that worked great and was easy after i figured out that it came out from the top inside an not the bottom from the back.

On the 61" RCA DLP, how do you disconnect the copper ribbon on the old color wheel? It doesn't seem to pull out. I don't want to mess up the connection.

I have an RCA Scenium which was bought in Feb of 2004, it's a 61 inch DLP. The model number is HDLP61W151YX1. The problem I'm having is that the color wheel is making a lot of noise and now the screen flashes white burst os snow every minute or so, it's very quickly but as the TV stays on the longer the burst get more frequent. I know it's not the bulb because I've already changed the bulb last year, and when it's the bulb you get no picture at all, so it must be the color wheel. I know where I can purchase a new color wheel but, I need instructions on how to replace the old with the new, can you help me in that respect. If you can please e-mail me at your earliest opportunity. Thank you very much. David

RCA DLP color wheel replacment is most efficiently done from the behind the screen, not the back panels where the guts of the DLP are located.

From there you do not need to remove anything but the color wheel and disconnect the two wires.

There isn't anything to tricky about replacing th ecolor wheel if you are mechanically inclined at all. Have to take out the light engine and all, but no carefull alignments or anything.

The color apprears to be in like 3d I was told it was teh color wheel but its not making any noises

It's the color wheel. The color wheel does not need to make noises for the color wheel to be bad. Sometimes it can spin slower or malfunction all together and you'll get intermittent shadows or color splotches with messed up skin tones.

Loud squealing noise first 5 minutes after tv is turned on

Sounds like the color wheel. It's the only moving part in most DLP's and the bearings can go bad. If it manages to get up to speed the picture may look normal. One temporary solution may be to let it run a few minutes, then turn the set off for 10 minutes, then turn back on. When my color wheel was going bad that would often quieten it down. For the rest of the day, try to leave the set on, especially if you're only going to be away from the TV for short periods. You can turn off your cable or satellite box but leave the set on and you won't have to go through the hassle of trying to quieten down the color wheel until the next cold start. Of course the best solution is to replace the color wheel which even with a rebuilt unit won't be cheap if your warranty is expired.
