The light is a flash and not meant for constant lighting. night shot is an inhanced mode for low light condition and has nothing to do with the flash

When you purchased your camera you were probably told as i was that it could take take low light and no light video. This is incorrect. While it can take low light video, and quite well i must say. It only sees IR lights it will NOT work with an IR emitter as it will only see the reflections of the light off of various surfaces. To use IR as a light source it must be modified.

Unfortunately there is no IR light (infrared) on the Aiptek A-HD, THis is a disability for me too, BUT! you can mod it to work in the night, I'm currently working on that.

How do you record in dark areas

Turn on the flash. Or the lights. And turn your camera into night mode.

Is there a way to turn off the flash?

The flash is automatic, you cannot control the flash. But you can put some black tape over the flash if you really don't want flash. Remember though, if the camera meter decides flash is needed, then your pictures could turn out dark/underexposed by covering the flash.

The manual can be found here: http://www.olympus-europa.com/consumer/208_manuals.cfm?prodID=P_N1246352

The manual says use 100, 200 or 400 iso films.

Maybe try high iso film like 800 iso or 1600 iso, best to try this out ahead of time to make sure you are satisfied with the results. The high iso films need less light so should perform better without flash, but the camera may not be able to rate these films correctly, trial and error is definitely required.

How to make night photo canon 1000d but the image to be frozen?

If it's not too dark, you can try setting the ISO to 1600 or even 3200. The downside is, you'll got image noise at higher ISO (sensitivity of sensor/film).

The other alternative is using the flash. If you need to increase shutter speed beyond the capabilities of the on-camera flash in order to 'freeze' the moving subject, then use an external flash unit and set it on high speed sync.

Does not record in doors or in low light. very dark display

It sounds like you may have the the camera in manual mode or that the Iris may be turned down. I am not sure if you model has an Iris control so make sure it is not in manual mode.

Pictures come out dark when we take at night or in a dark area...even when flash on

It might depend on what distance you expect the flash to travel in order to light the subject. How many times havbe you benn to outdoor cocerts and seen flashes going off Many of those pics are goin to be dark because the flash is unlikely to reach that distance to be effective and the only light available to the sensor is the ambient light.

You need to observe what settings the camera reports like F numbers and speed numbers 1/30 1/60 at 1/60 and below the flash is activated and the aperture might be F16 the rule of thumb is higher the number smaller the hole, which with flash this setting would be ok

if it goes to F4 5 or even 8 it may be too restictive and cause under exposure.
The ISO setting is also helpful to understand here to The ISO is like the old film speed number ASA 100 daylight film ASA 400 is more sensitive to low light so change your ISO (ASA) setting to a higher number and see if that helps you take a better picture

RECORDING A VIDEO AT NIGHT

The flash unit is for still photos only. By design it can not be used when shooting video, because it can not stay lit (the flash fires from a stored electrical charge, and needs time to build up another charge).

Kodak DX 6490 Flash

Hello, When taking photos in low light or night time, turn the rotary dial that you use to turn on the camera all the way to the right as far as it will turn.the symbol looks like torso of person with a star above it. this is the night setting, exposure time is increased so you may have to rest camera on solid object to prevent blur. This should do the trick.
Best Regards,Russell
