Kenmore Ultra wash quiet guard 4, model # 66517032401 can't start dishwasher. clean light stays on

  • Teresa Martinez-Travitzky

We've tried hitting cancel and opening and reclosing the door and drawers. We even turned off all power to the dishwasher for 8 hours...clean light still comes back on and just keeps blinking once power is restored. This is for Kenmore QuietGuard3, stock #17022

Our Kenmore dishwasher clean light keeps blinking and we can not cancel nor start a new cycle. We turned off the breaker, checked for blockage, reclosed the dishwasher. What else can we try? Thanks Denise Walters

Blinking light indicating electricaLproblem from manual. Unit less than two years old.

Took washer out unhooked and checked all points, all seem okay. Rewired and hooked up all hoses etc and still no luck!

Dishwasher still maintains flashing green light.

    What could be the problem?

  • nina333 Sep 04, 2008

I had the same problem. Kenmore dishwasher - cleaning light still blinking - can't start regular wash. I followed the persons advice on hitting normal wash-heat dry normal wash-heat dry keep doing that until all lights light up - it will start running. he said to hit the start button until turns off - but i'm just letting the wash cycle run and i'll see waht happens! but I am sooooo happy that it worked! thank you! now I don't have to spend money on a repair man and I can tell my husband I fixed it all by myself and I won't tell him my secret! ;)

  • fixerfailure Dec 27, 2008

I want to kiss the person who advised the normal wash..heated dry repeats! It fixed my problem immediately!!! Thank you so very much!

  • Anonymous May 08, 2009

I had the Clean light on and no wash capabilities.

I used the Normal Wash, Heated Dry, Normal Wash, Heated Dry fix it method, all the lights came on, and it started working.

I told the wife it took hours to fix, HA

    Thank you so so much

  • Web Tileston Jan 07, 2012

I just followed the procedure as well pusing the Normal Wash and Heated Dry buttons repeatedly until all the lights came on. And sure enough once I hit cancel and then pushed the start button it worked. Thanks a million. wt

  • Jennifer Jul 15, 2012

Our Model KULD03FVSS0 also had the "Clean" light blinking problem. This Fix worked like a charm. It took about 5 sequences of "Normal Wash", "Heat Dry" to clear. All the lights came on then it started a normal wash on it's own. The "Clean" light stayed on for a moment in the beginning, but then went off. I believe the default error happened because the drain hose was crimped and water was not draining properly from the machine.

I'm stumped. My Kenmore dish washer appears to run fine for 1/2 the washing cycle. It then goes into the green blinking clean light. Pressing heat wash, heat dry causes all lights to blink. Pressing cancel clears everything and the washer is set to go, only to repeat 1/2 a cycle again. What else can I try?

Thank you, thank you, thank you- solution #1 worked!!! I pressed normal wash, heated dry, normal wash, heated dry... until all the buttons lit up. Then all the buttons went off and I was afraid my dishwasher was really broken. I then closed the door and pressed start and it worked.

Same situation...flashing "clean" green light...could not run any cycles...tried the poweroff, didn't work, then read the advise on pressing "normal wash - heat dry, normal wash - heat dry" then all lights lit and it worked!!! Great advice, thank you very much. Manitoba, Canada.

THANKS SO MUCH! "normal wash-heated dry...." reset it and I got all the blinking lights... It went through all sorts of cycles and all of them seem to work... before the washer would not do anything! I just told it to do a normal wash cycle now and am sooo happy we don't have to call Sears! My boyfriend tried looking at the manual to fix it and got no where and I just did a google search and found this helpful site right away!!! THANKS... I can't wait to tell him I fixed it in 5 minutes!

This was happening to me also. The green start button kept blinking. I did the above, pushing all of the buttons. I found that the Jet dry rinse was empty. After I filled it, it worked!

Just to add details to the wonderful Solution #1
... after all the lights come on, stop pushing buttons and wait. The unit will start up after a couple minutes.
THANK YOU, Guest and FixYa!

Posted on Apr 08, 2009

Try pressing normalwash-heatdry-normalwash-heatdry-normalwash-heatdry-normalwash-heat then all the lights come on. Let run for a little bit. then keep pressing the start button. untell the unit shuts off, then try running a cycle. The control board has a memory in it. So if you have cold water running in it one time. It will take longer to warm up. Your memory in the control board says its taking to long to warm up. Shutting down thinking their is something wrong with your heating cycle.

The 'Best Solution" above worked like a champ! Owner's manual says to "call for service" if the green light is flashing. Just like our computers, sometimes you just have to reset them. This does the trick! Thanks to whoever posted this solution. Saved me much time, aggrevation, not to mention $$$!

Just be aware, this blinking light is a symptom, not the problem. My son had fallen on to our washer door and bent it up. The replacement door (and hinges) don't align quite correctly and sometimes the sensor does not match up with the door latch all the way. If this is a recurring problem, try adjusting the latch. (You can see it with the door open, at the top of the washer front.)

Clean light keeps blinking; dishwaher won't turn on

Hello Brian, welcome to FixYa.
Based on your post I understand your dishwasher is a Kenmore and the clean light is flashing and it won't start, correct ?
If so, this is usually an error code indicating there was a problem in the heating process the last cycle it ran, however if you could provide the complete model number I could speak specifically to whether it applies to your machine and potentially what to do about it.
Thank you for choosing FixYa and I look forward to your reply.
Regards,
Macmarkus :)

Dishwaher wont drain-checked drain hose and its clean

The problem is most likely the drain valve. It is electrically operated and with your problem it is the most common cause.
