Hp ipaq seems dead

Without know exactly what already you tried to powered it on, I can only especulate on all the possible reasons, so let go one by one throuh them and their possible solutions:

1. The RX3000 Ipaq family has a known mechanical issue on the switch that senses when the back cover lid is properly closed.

When the switch is nor properly depressed, the PDA won't charge the battery if plugged on the cradle or to the USB sync cable, or won't turn on.

Remove the back cover lid and the battery, put them back again. Check the cover lid is placed flush and that there is not any gap between the cover and the PDA body.

Try again in power it on and/or charge the battery, confirming the orange LED light is turning on.

2. Either the cradle/USB sync cable or the AC wall adapter are defective.

The PDA won't power on if the battery is not charged to the minimum voltage for it. If the AC wall adapter or the cable/Cradle are defective, won't power on.

Put to charge the battery and confirm the orange LED light is turning on. If so, the you can discard that the cradle/USB cable or AC wall adapter are defective.

It the orange LED light won't turn on, it may be either one of these three parts that are defective, or that the back cover lid is not properly closed.

3. The battery dried out. If the battery is defective or won't accept charge, the pda won't power on.

To discard a defective battery, put the PDA to charge it, and it will power on when plugged to the USB cable or to the charger, and check in the settings screen, on the power icon, if the battery is charging.

If the back cover lid is properly placed, and the PDA won't power on when plugged to the USB cable or AC wall adapter, then the battery is not the problem.

4. Discarding that the battery or the USB cable or cradle or the back cover lid are the problem for this problem, the only option that is left is that the main board is defective.

Such failure on the mainboard could be caused for several reasons (moisture or humidity or water damage, or a electronic component that is worn out, or a integrated circuit that is shorted, etc) but it can be only verified and confirmed by an electronics technician.

You have the option of send it to be repaired, or try it yourself, which will require to buy a PDA with working mainboard (or the mainboard alone) and swap the parts. It requires a minimum of technical skills to do it.

HP Ipaq H4355 PDA charging problem

Use common sense and frequently charge the battery even when the device is not used.
Draining a battery fully often kills it permanently.

Battery won't charge after being replaced

The charger might be bad. Or then the pdas connector is bad, or the motherboard is damaged.

to find out is your charger working you could use a tester to test it or another pda.

If you could get some power into the pda you could use the bootloader to test the device. Its been years since I had my 3850.

Il have to find instructions on how to get to the bootloader but test the other things first.

Drop a comment.

HW6515d Ipaq Sound with TomTom Sat NAv

The ipaq 6515 has a microswitch that will turn off the pda if the battery cover is removed. When you remove the cover and try to turn it on even with the external power supply plugged in, the red led will light up.

It's basically a similar fix for what CTF1800 said but uses paper.

Cannot power on...

How to correct iPAQ 5450, 5455, 5550, 5555 battery charging problems / dead unit syndrome.

The iPAQ 54xx or 55xx will not power on if the batteries charge is lower than 3.2 Volts, if your battery charge falls below the 3.2 volts level your unit will not turn on, you need to plug the iPAQ into a cradle or AC charge adaptor. Note the charging light on the iPAQ will not flash at all (normally flashes orange) until the battery charge has reached a minimum charge level of 3.2 volts. You then need to perform a normal reset, then the unit should switch on normally.

HP Procedure is as follows:

To charge and reset the iPAQ Pocket PC h5400:

i) Connect the iPAQ Pocket PC h5400 to an A/C power supply.
ii) Charge the battery to the minimum level of 3.2 Volts. This will take 5 to 30 minutes depending on the current charge level.
iii) Perform a normal reset.
iv) Power on the iPAQ Pocket PC h5400

It is recommended that you keep the iPAQ Pocket PC connected to the Universal Cradle or Cable when it is not in use.

My H5450 won't charge!

When you charge up your iPaq, do you use the cradle, or do you use the AC-adapter with the little iPaq power converter that came with the iPaq? Try both, and see if it charges up your pda. Try and borrow an iPaq car-charger and see if it charges up that way (the ones that do not need the iPaq power converter). If you are lucky enough to power up the iPaq even for 2 minutes, enable USB fast charging in the SETTING -> BATTERY. Your USB-data-cable or cradle will then be able to charge it up that way...
