I too had this problem recently (display showing SET2). Tried unplugging, changing remotes, reading the manual (!), searching online. Found this site and THANK YOU! It didn't work the first time but I manually turned off machine, held down enter on remote, then held down 2 on the keypad of remote. I don't know how long I held it (10 seconds, 20 seconds...) but it worked.

I had a new dvr added to my TWC cable services, but installer did not totally explain how to record or find recordings after taping. Can anybody tell me how to remedy this problem?

How do I record a show using my DVR and i-Guide?

There are multiple ways to do this:
  1. Press the RECORD button on your remote control while watching a program to begin recording. An overlay will appear on your screen to let you know you have started recording.
  2. From the TV listings grid, highlight the show you want to record and press the Record button.
  3. From any program information screen, highlight the Record icon and press the OK/Select button on your remote to schedule a recording. Follow the on-screen prompts for additional recording options.
Manually schedule a recording for a specific time or channel:
  1. Press the MENU button on your remote control then select the DVR icon.
  2. Or, if available, press the My DVR button on your remote control.
  3. Select the start time, end time and day that you want to record.
  4. Press Confirm.
  5. In the channel list that appears, select the channel to record from.
  6. Select Record to confirm your settings or select Recording Options for additional options.

The remote just says set 2 and does nothing

Does the TV screen say Set 2 or the display area on the DVD recorder? The original remote for the DMR-ES35VS doesn't have a screen. (If you are using a universal remote, I'm not sure how to reset the unit.)

The Set 2 indicates that the unit was set to listen to a remote on the second wavelength available on these remotes. Your remote needs to be set to the same wavelength. Press and hold Enter and then press and hold 2 (for about 2 seconds) on the remote to set it to this option. Press Return to move back through the menu or exit the screen. (Panasonic provided this feature for those with several devices so that each remote wouldn't control a nearby device at that frequency.) To get the recorder to respond to the remote, they must be set to the same range. To check, press the Functions button. Under Other Functions > Setup > Remote Control Code, you can adjust the wavelength that the receiver is looking for. (Use the up/down arrows to select a sub-menu and the Enter key to enter the sub-menu. Use the left/right arrows to select options in the secondary menu.) If the unit doesn't respond, try a different wavelength. (Press and hold Enter and then press 1 or 3. There are only three possible options for the remote/receiver.)

For a screen capture of this, see page 19 of the manual; it is available from Panasonic here: . An original remote is available from . It probably comes pre-programmed for Remote Code 1.

I hope this helps.

During my recent transfer to a new flat i lost my remote control for my panasonic dvd recorder type DMR EH67. I bought a universal remote control but i did not have the full functions of my lost one. In my...

You can try changing the command mode of the (genuine Panasonic) remote itself, press and hold [ ENTER/OK ] and the number [ 3 ] button together for 5 - 10 seconds, then release. Then try the remote with the unit. If it still shows DVD 3 on its display, no matter which button is pressed, reset the main unit to factory default as outlined in the user manual (assuming this model recorder has a tuner, there would be channel buttons on the front - try pressing and holding [ CH/UP ] and [ CH/DOWN ] together - for 5 - 10 seconds, until 'SETUP' appears, then release). This may or may not restore your DVD unit to the default (DVD 1) command mode. (Don't forget to reset the remote back to DVD 1 if you do reset the main unit - press and hold [ ENTER/OK ] + the number [ 1 ] button together as above).

Your new remote may be set to DVD 1 by default while your unit is DVD 3 = different remote command modes.

Remote won't work

According to page 15 of the manual, you should "Press and hold [ENTER] and the indicated number button at the same time for more than 2 seconds" This will work for SET 1, SET 2, etc. If you have lost the manual for the DVR/Remote you can download a copy at

Hi, when i press any key on the dvd recorder remote (panasonic dmr-e55) i comes up with remote dvd 1 everytime and wont do anything else, weve tried umplugging it 2 but that doesnt help, do u have any...

Very easy fix.

Your DVD recorder can be set up to accept remote contol signals on any one of three channels. DVD 1, DVD 2 or DVD 3. Your remote can be set up to send signals on any of these channels. You need to make sure your recorder and remote are set to the same channel.

Your recorder is telling you that it is set to receive remote control signals on channel DVD 1. This means your remote control is currently set for a different channel.

Assuming that you have a genuine Panasonic remote, do the following, On your remote press the "Enter" button and hold it down. Then press the "1" button at the same time for two seconds, then release both. This will change your remote so it sends signals on DVD 1 which will match your recorder.

Those clever people at Panasonic realise that you will be delighted with their products and will probably have several of their appliances in use. The different channels avoids switching all your Panasonic gadgets at the same time. Clever huh?
Best wishes

Can not get my sony dvd to get off of dvd1 and it is now locked u

Go to your DVR and manually turn the DVR off. Press the STOP button for
two or three seconds. The DVR COMMAND MODE setting will display in the
DVR window. (DVD1, DVD2 or DVD3)

Set the remote to the COMMAND MODE setting that was diaplayed by depressing
both the remote ENTER key and the desired number key (1, 2 or 3) and holding
them both at the same time for 3 seconds.

You can now use the remote to set the DVR to the desired COMMAND MODE.
To do this depress SYSTEM MENU on the remote and go to SETTINGS and then
COMMAND MODE. Select either DVD1, DVD2 or DVD3. Once you delect a setting
that is different from what was set, your remote will stop working again.

Reset your remote to the desired COMMAND MODE by depressing the remote ENTER
key and the desired number key (1, 2 or 3) and holding them both at the same
time for 3 seconds. The remote should now control the DVR.

Sanyo DVR-DX600 Region Code

Could you pls try:
1. Remove DVD or video from the player.
2. Press the ‘Set-up’ button on the remote control.
3. Select the ‘System Info’ mode from the on-screen menu.
4. Using the remote control 10-key type in ‘1101′
5. ‘Region code’ should appear as an option on the ‘System Info’ menu. Initially the region code will be set to 2. Press ‘0′ on your remote control using the 10-keys to set to multi-region.
6. Press ‘OK/Enter’ on the remote control.
7. Finish by pressing the ‘Set-up’ button once more.
This was actually intended for a Sanyo DVR-V100E &HVRDX610 but I was made to understand should also work for DVR-DX600. This was originally posted here.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Remote control

I called a Tech @ Panasonic and he told me to point and hold the "OK" button and the number 2 for about 10 seconds. Then I pressed the power button for the DVD recorder and it worked.

Had this same problem and found the solution elsewhere on the net. Hold down the "1" button and the "Enter" button for aprox 10 seconds while pointing at the player. This "resets" the remote. I was skeptical when I first read this solution but it worked for me!
