Question about Computers & Internet
Windows XP and higher detect automatically the usb HDD drive. However, if the system is XP and did not detect please install all the system utility or drivers enclosed in your system specifically the chipset and the usb driver. if this not work at all please try this last oprion:
when starting the system simultaneously press "F2" or "Delete" to go to bios setup;
In bios setup you need to "load bios setup default" and then press "F10" to save an exit.
If thesame problems occur then may be you should reinstall the windows.
In case your system is windows 98 you need to install the USB hard drive driver.

You connected the usb had drive , and if it had an external power source it was on ???
ok right click on mycomputer
choose device manager
right click anything on the tree view and click scan for hardware changes.. Windows Xp should automatically detect and install it..
If you got vista, Right click computer and choose device manager,, right click anything on the tree view and click scan for hardware changes,, windows vista should install it automatically
IF THAT FAILS
verify your usb cable is good
check if your device requires an external power source and verify that it is connected..
connect it to another computer to see if it working
IF ALL THE ABOVE FAILS THE UNIT IS NO GOOD..,, you could try changing the harddrive inside it but i would have been wanting my money back or insurance since it could have been damaged while shipping..
I THINK I MAY HAVE COVERED IT ALL BUT IF I MISSED ANYTHING PLEASE POST IT AND I WILL TRY TO ASSIST
