1st of all try it in another PC, and see if it does then same. Then we can establish if it's the drive station or the PC.

I believe you should opt for MAC OS Extended (journaled) because journaling if more reliable and fault resilience. You can get details on this partition type on http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2355

1. Right click on My Computer and choose Manage.

2. Navigate to Disk Management and check to see if the drive is appearing as a drive.

3. If it is showing as unallocated, right-click on it and Partition the drive.

4. If it is showing as formatted and healthy, right-click on it, choose 'change Drive Letter and Path' to assign a drive letter.

try replacing all the leads that attach the hard drive to computer

theres a possibility that the HD is infected with virus,try to scan it or defrag it

set first device as your harddisk is bios.
When you power up the computer press F2 or "del" key to enter in bios.then go to boot option then set first boot as hdd.
