my washer fills but won't agitate or spin. You can't even turn it by hand. Put new belt and pulley and still don't work. It did work for about a ten minute wash and then seemed to be frozen. Any suggestions?

the belt that was put on was too wide, would this cause it to maybe not grab right? We got it to wash for a couple minutes and then it would shut down. The belt that was put on was not a v-style belt, the person fixing it didn't say it had to be a tapered belt.So I'm getting the right belt and hopefully that will fix the problem, Thank You for your reply. Waaiting to hear from you.
Sounds like a transmission problem. It's locked in agitation mode. When it is in agitation mode you can't turn the drum or move the agitator. I'd check that out.

Yes the wrong belt can cause the motor to overheat causing the washer to shut down. If you have the wrong belt it puts a drag on the motor. It may fix the problem and hopefully you didn't cause any problems with the motor.
