DID you try other battery's ?

Maybe its the battery onboard that holds the memory the camera is reffering to.. Open up the camera and you will see a lithium battery on the main board. Maybe thats the battery that may need changing..

If its recharable batterys your using, after a while those tend to loose amperage and will require changing, this could also account for the problem..

Another suggestion is to clean the contacts from the camera that connects to the batttery, it may have corosion and this could account for power loss and the camera reading incorrect voltage...

Was the camera dropped??

If it wasnt dropped try changing the batteries.

install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into the camera.

1. If the camera is on, turn it off.
2. If any accessories (memory card, lens, USB cable, camera or printer dock, etc.) are connected to the camera, remove/disconnect them.
3. Remove the battery/batteries from the camera.
4. Verify:
That you are using the correct battery/batteries for the camera
That the battery/batteries are correctly installed
That the battery/batteries are fresh or fully charged
Follow the battery installation and charging instructions in the camera User Guide
5. Turn on the camera.

I use rechargeable batteries in my FE-35 and they are constantly showing up as empty. They show as full for about 30 secs and then they are shown as completely empty. It's very frustrating. Has anyone else...

This may not be so much an issue with the camera as much as a problem with the batteries. Since these are type "AA" battery packages, you should attempt to use them in another device - such as a small flashlight or other device that can operate on AA batteries.

If the batteries fail to to power the flashlight (or other test device) for more than 5 - 10 minutes after charging overnight (or as long as directed by the battery charger), the problem is with the batteries. It is very important that the batteries are charged properly. Properly means for for the required amount of time AND in the correct charger. There are different types of battery types: NiMh, NiCad, NiZN, Li-ion, etc. Using the wrong charger to charge the batteries could cause unpredictable results - or create a potentially dangerous condition. Additionally, some battery types develop a "memory" and can be responsible incomplete charging and rapid discharge. This happens if the initial charge is insufficient and the batteries are not completely discharged prior to recharging. It may be possible to recondition these batteries - but this size battery is relatively inexpensive, so replacement might be a better option.

If the batteries are working okay in the test device, then the problem may lie in the camera itself. Test the camera by installing fresh, AA alkaline batteries. If the camera rapidly discharges the alkaline batteries, it's a safe bet that the camera has a problem.

Please rate this reply if you found it helpful - good luck!

Camera never used and won't turn on, battery fully charged.Ideas? Thanks, Deb

The fe-280 user manual notes hat it is possible to insert the battery "the wrong way round" in either the charger, or camera itself (whereupon its hard to extract).

An extract from the faq about it .....

The camera no longer powers on. What could be wrong?
The battery may be dead or underpowered.
If the battery is completely drained, the camera will not power on when the Power button is pressed. If the battery is nearly drained, the camera may briefly display a Battery Empty error message and then power off, or it may power on and then quickly power off without displaying the error. In either case, charge the battery using the LI-40C battery charger bundled with the camera.
Be sure to properly align the arrow on the bundled battery with the arrow on the bundled battery charger. It is possible to force the battery into the charger so that the arrows are not aligned. This is an improper orientation, and the battery will not be charged. For instructions on how to properly inset the battery into the charger, please see "How do I charge the lithium-ion battery?"

So in a nutshell, the first few steps to check are:
1) Are you sure the battery is charged correctly?
2) Have you inserted it into the camera body correctly?
3) Do you have a spare charged battery to check the camera with? (A photo store will do this for you sometimes, if you ask nicely).

ERROR MESSAGE ; CAN NOT USE CARD

First try formatting the card again. If you cant do that then try another card. If that does not work remove the batteries from the camera, wait 30 mins and put the batteries back and try again. make sure that the batteries are fully charged and try running the camera without the external memory card just so you can check that it functions correctly. If not then it is a visit to service repair.

Battery empty message

Put brand new batteries in. The battery empty message means there is no "juice" or power left in the batteries. If they are recharagable batteries, "re-juice" them (charge them).

Printer will not charge camera batteries. camera screen said to go on line and look for m627-435

Did you go online and look up this troubleshooting tip from HP?  Did you make sure the batteries are rechargeable and in the correct orientation ( + and - )? Here is the results from looking up the error code M627-435 at the HP website:
Solution
  1. Ensure that the batteries are rechargeable. If the batteries are not rechargeable, replace them with rechargeable batteries.
  2. If the batteries are rechargeable, take them out and check for obvious physical damage. If the batteries are damaged, replace the batteries with rechargeable batteries in good physical condition.
  3. If the batteries are in good condition, charge the batteries using the external charger that shipped with the camera before using them in the camera for the first time.
  4. If you have tried each of the steps above and the status message still displays when you try to charge the batteries, replace the batteries.
Cause The Batteries cannot be charged status message is usually caused by one of the following:
  • When first connected to an optional HP AC power adapter or placed on an optional dock, the camera performs a test to determine if the batteries are rechargeable. If the test determines that the batteries are non-rechargeable, an status message displays in the LCD.
  • If the battery charge falls below 1.1 volts, the camera cannot detect that the batteries are rechargeable. The camera does not charge batteries below a 1.1-volt threshold to prevent charging non-rechargeable batteries. Rechargeable batteries discharged below 1.1 volts can be charged in an external charger.
Apparently, your batteries are either seriously discharged where you need to use an external AC charger to recharge the batteries or their damagaed and need replacing. Hope this helps.

Communication error?!

I'm betting you bought an aftermarket battery and not an original JVC battery. The error message you are getting is caused by the camcorder not being able to read the charge sensor in the battery. Some of the aftermarket batteries neglect to put that sensor in the battery, or have a sensor which does not match the OEM sensor in a factory battery. Try an original JVC battery. Is this solution answered your question bu sure to rate it. Thanks!

Camera not powering on

Hello... 1)camera is not turning on . Is the battery inserted correctly? Check the direction of the battery. Is the battery sufficiently charged? Use a battery that has been sufficiently charged. 2)camera switches off after powered on * Is the battery charge insufficient to operate the camera? Use a battery that has been sufficiently charged. * If you leave the camera on, the battery will be exhausted. Turn the camera off frequently by using power save mode or economy mode etc.
