im not up to speed with this type of error or what its associated with
if you want to know what this is the error code is related to
click start control panel administrative tools computer management then select event viewer this may vary depending on what operating system you have extend the events there you will see errors in red you will no what exactly what the error was and at what time it occured you might be able work your way through the problem hope it helps
1.) Right click My Computer
2.) Click on Manage
3.) Click on Disk Management at the left side panel of Computer Management
4.) Right Click on the USB device in the Disk Management panel
5.) Click on Change Drive Letter
6.) Assign an Alphabet from E-Z to the USB device
7.) Click Ok
Go to My Computer and find the drive letter that you have assigned.
If the OneTouch does not appear in My Computer
or cannot be found by Maxtor Manager, right click on My Computer icon
and select Properties, Device Manager, Disc drives, and expand Disc
Drives. There will probably be a yellow overlay over Maxtor drive, to
show it has a problem, so right click on it and select 'Choose drivers
for this device' to reinstall them. Without going online they seem to be
found somewhere locally on the PC and I hope this will do the trick.
Open My Computer
Note the drive-letter assigned to the Maxtor
Close My Computer
If the drive-letter was 'E:', type 'E:'
Type ATTRIB -H -R -S *
Open My Computer
Double-click the icon for the Maxtor
Does it still show "zero" files/folders?
Does it show a 'FOUND' folder?
What file(s) are in that folder?
You can try installing the drivers for the hard disk. Usually XP and vista operating systems detect the drives and install the drivers by themselves. But sometimes there are compatibility issues, which then require manual installation of drivers. I wonder what the operating system on your computer is. Please get back to me if you need further assistance.
Hope this helps :)
Check the disk management MMC - it's likely that you have another drive letter that is conflicting with the Maxtor. 1. Right Click on the Computer Icon (or in the menu), 2. click on Managment, 3. look for Disk Management(on the left side) and click on that. 4. This will show you all the installed HD's that you have.
Your main HD is probably called Disk 0. IF there are any other HD's listed they will probably be labled "removeable", if it doesn't have a drive letter assigned to it do the following:
1. Right click on the Disk (X) that does not have a drive letter. (it should be a "Removable Drive") 2. Select Change drive letter and Paths. 3. Choose a drive letter from the list that is not used, I suggest W or Z just to be sure. 4. After you do that it should come up in My Computer as an available drive.
IF the External Drive is not listed then you need to change the USB port or try it on another PC to see if it works there.
