Curly one Power switch plays up The motherboard is a new one and inspects fine. Also replaced control panel (power switch ) and power supply. It starts after multiple presses of the switch sometimes up to thirty presses. I observe the power supply and processor cooling fan when trying to switch ON and they just spin for a second or 2 then stops, motherboard may be intermittently grounding to the case. How do i remedy this? Thanks in advance.

I think that you have a faulty power switch there. I know it is new but there could still be a fault. Suggest try a new power switch as for the earthing check that the motherboard screws are all in place and secured to the case.

Thanks J

At a guess, main board. I agree if power supply board is bad, you won't get DVD working.

No power from transformer

If the switch mode power supply does not power up then it maybe be faulty.
First check the power button wires from the front panel to the motherboard is seated correctly on the motherboard.
If it still does not boot up then replace the switch mode power supply, make sure the new switch mode power supply has the same or higher wattage rating.

My HP Media Center PC m1180n had been running fine. I just went to shut it down and after it powered off, I saw a spark come from inside the tower. No there is no power to the PC. Any help would be...

I've had this happen and was able to resolve by removing the power cord for about a minute.
If still nothing, remove the side panel and inspect the motherboard for melting or charring. If you see some you will need to replace the motherboard, if none is present, start by replacing the power supply. Still nothing then it's motherboard replacement
There is a possibility the spark fried more than just the motherboard.

Comment back if you need clarification or more help.

Emachine T2484 will not power up

Try to start it without any memory in it (RAM), if it beeps then you have bad RAM. If you have more than 1 piece of RAM then try one at a time and see if it will boot. If it doesn't beep and still doesn't turn on your CPU is probably the culprit since you have a new motherboard and power supply. I would also try unplugging everything that is unnecessary like the CD-ROM, Hard drive, sound card, etc..

KV7-V power supply

follow the power cable from the PSU to the motherboard and see if the 21 connection has melted to the motherboard. You are better getting a 500W silent type, but it depends on the peripherals you have installed, try www.ebuyer.com for various makes.
