2 wire (dsl) compatibility with Vista Home Premium

Is there a fix out there for this? I will lose my connection after a short period of time but I can reboot and gain it back. BigFix tells me its a compatibility issue.

Re: 2 wire (dsl) compatibility with Vista Home Premium

Check the 2wire site for a firmware update for your router. Assuming there is one, but it does not resolve the issue, it could instead be a problem with Vista. If that's the case you could try this instead and see if it works. If so, maybe we can fix it for good.

Open your Network Connections, It's located somewhere in the Control Panel in Vista. You should be able to disable the network interface, and then re-enable it. If that brings you back up, the problem is likely not the router. This does not mean that the DSL connection to the router is not at fault, but your ISP can usually check that connection for you if you call them.

So, if this does work, it is probably the Vista driver for your network adapter. You could then try to find an updated driver to see if that will resolve the issue.

One last possibility. Inside of the network connections properties there is usually a tab "Power Management" that has this option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". You can uncheck this and if that's the problem/driver issue, it may then work properly.

"Allow this device to

Use Crossloop. Each session is encrypted and doesn't require turning off firewalls in your routers. You will have to give it permission to run in Vista and XP, but it works and I've used it many times.

If this is what you're already using, go to their help page to resolve the problem.

Hope this helps.

2wire homeportal 1000hw cannot find wireless address

Windows 7 (Beta) and Windows Vista 64 Bit. Step 1. Do not allow the autostartup to run the installation application. You must right click on the CD ROM and select the "OPEN" option. Locate the driver on the install CD. Since my DVD ROM drive is my "D:" drive I located the driver at D:\USB_VISTA32364\BACKUP_2WIRE_VISTA_USB_Installer.exe . Before you click on this you want to right click on this and select Properties. In the properties tab click on the middle tab marked "Compatibility". Make sure you select the checkmark box to: Run this program in compatibility mode for: and use the pull down menu to select Windows XP SP2. This is how I was able to get my 2wire utility to work on Windows 7 (beta) 64 Bit.

Actiontec gt704wg hates vista

Vista is almost as bad as Verizon services. I have had a ton of problems. I had a Westell router that kept going out and then I put my Actiontec on. It was a lot faster but still drops out all the time. When I log in to the router it says I have both dsl and internet connection. and then my pc shows I have the locals only. Where I live has old wiring and Verizon won't fix there end of it.
