Question about 2wire (1000-400108-001) Router
Is there a fix out there for this? I will lose my connection after a short period of time but I can reboot and gain it back. BigFix tells me its a compatibility issue.
Check the 2wire site for a firmware update for your router. Assuming there is one, but it does not resolve the issue, it could instead be a problem with Vista. If that's the case you could try this instead and see if it works. If so, maybe we can fix it for good.
Open your Network Connections, It's located somewhere in the Control Panel in Vista. You should be able to disable the network interface, and then re-enable it. If that brings you back up, the problem is likely not the router. This does not mean that the DSL connection to the router is not at fault, but your ISP can usually check that connection for you if you call them.
So, if this does work, it is probably the Vista driver for your network adapter. You could then try to find an updated driver to see if that will resolve the issue.
One last possibility. Inside of the network connections properties there is usually a tab "Power Management" that has this option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". You can uncheck this and if that's the problem/driver issue, it may then work properly.
