SET IS DEAD,HAS POWER TO BOARD BUT WILL NOT TURN ON HAS SEVERAL FILTER CAP BULDGED ON POWER BOARD

That is more likely to be a power board issue. Most common is a swelled C802 box capacitor on the power supply board. Take a look at that first. If looks even slightly buldged or bubbled,replace that board first. Otherwise a short on any board can cause the relay to click. The control board is least likely to have a dead short

You may have a problem in the standby power supply which is usually part of the main power supply.

If the set is opened look on the power supply board for caps puffed up like these--dead giveaway.

Have someone open the set and follow the power cord to the power supply board inside--look for caps like these there that are puffed up on top--if you find this--you likely have found your problem.

A bad cap will look like these with the tops puffed up--should be perfectly flat and no brown material coming out of them.

I just looked again on another site--this is the set that has the cap that goes bad--do you know what a filter cap looks like? it will be black and round with 1000 mfd 25vdc marked on it--near a big diode and next to a square black relay--when the site is back on Tuesday I will give you a location number for it(printed on top of the circuit board) it should be flat on top if you open the set and see it with the top not flat-buldged up--that is the bad part--fixed dozens of these with this problem--if you find it bad go to a higher rated voltage cap---50 volt at least--you have my email--part has only 2 leads and with the back off and located is a 5 minute job to fix.....give me a email if you have any questions or need help.(I can email you a photo of what a cap like this looks like)

listen? these sets now have all kinds of troubles--some if the green light will not stop blinking have several filter caps on power supply board that are buldged up--top of them is pushed upwards--they also have problems on two other boards--one part of the optical engine and the other a board sandwiched between two other boards--most caps are soldered thru the board--the ones on the other two boards are surface mounted caps--soldered to the top of the board--best case thing for you is have someone remove power board(it is on left side as you look from back) and see if caps are buldged up--if you are lucky there should be 4 or more bad--If I owned this set and replaced them and set worked--I would sell set as fast as I could---if caps on power board are not the problem--buy a new set---do not take my word for this: google model number with word problems after it and you will get an education.
