Question about D-Link DI-704P Router

No connection I have just received the Router. I ve installed the accompaning disk. Virgin Media says I am connected, But I can not get connected. Can you help please. Best regards Nasrin M

* are you connected to virgin media via adsl connection or via cable connection?
* can we please get the model number of your adsl modem if have one
* model of the router your using if have one
* how many computers?
* configuration provided by ISP?
* Operating System of your computers?

Is your physical connection right???
the WAN port should be connected to your modem, and the LAN1 should be connected to your pc.....

if right, but still doesn't connect....
check if the lights of your router is working
the POWER should have a solid light,
the STATUS, WAN, LAN 0r WLAN should be blinking...

if right, but still doesn't connect....
What kind of connection do you have?
is your modem automatically detects your password...?
or you manually type your password to connect to the internet...?

My Netgear router has just been replaced by Virgin Media with a DLink 615. The installation disc won't work, so can a connect without it? I'm running on XP and using Firefox as my browser cheers

You will need to reset the router to factory defaults before you can connect to Virgin Moble there should be a reset button on the back of the router press and hold for 30sec. and then reboot it

Trying to conect laptop to virgin media with netgear wireless adaptor the signal is strong but could not conect windows say to contact provider provider gave me number to enter now i am lost

The router is not connected to the internet via Virgin media.

Your computer is connected only to the router wirelessly, that is why it says contact your internet supplier on how to connect the router successfully!

Well, Virgin Media provides Cable Internet connection and with those connections you can not use this ADSL modem. If you have internet services from then only you will be able to use this modem with them. This modem will not work with Virgin Media connection.

Just got a dir615 from virgin media. lan to pc not working

If the lan light does not light up, there is a problem with the connection between the pc and the router. Did you use the cable between your modem and your pc as the cable between your router and your pc? If so, it may be the wrong cable. With some modems the suppler sends a cross over cable. This will not work between your router and your pc. Get a straight through cable and try that.

If that does not work, we need more info to help you more.

1. What is the IP address set to on your PC. See the TCP/IP properties listed in your network connection properties in the control panel.

2. Does your PC work with the modem directly?

3. Does the cable you are using have a cross-over label on it?

4. Are you trying initially to connect to the router via a wireless connection? You should use a cable connection to set up the router, then try the wireless connection.

Connecting to virgin cable modem

Hey, connect a network (straight through cable) from the blue socket on the modem to the WAN socket on your router (This socket will be split away from the other 4 on the router), then turn on your router 1st then modem.

Well the best router for your connection type would be WNR2000. Even Virgin media recommend this router for their 20 and 50 Meg connection. I am pretty confident that this router will meet your requirement with this ISP connection.

Cannot finish connecting

Hi fozzy211 - Please don't rate this 'til were finished. You've got two things going on. You said it's telling you to check the cables and then you say it's saying the router isn't from Verizon. Is it both? Are the cables hooked up correctly to your knowledge? We can fool Verizon's system. Let me know if you actually have two problems. For now I would only hook up one pc via wired until it's working. I'll await your response. Thanks.
