PS3 froze will not turn on.

Usually, this problem comes from either having too much dust on your hard drive or not having correctly functioning power cords. Take out your hard drive, carefully dust the inside, reset the hard drive, and put it back in. To check the power cords, replace the ones on your computer with the ones from your ps3 and try to turn it on. There are various guides online if you need help with the hard drive reset and dusting the interior. I am not sure if this voids your warranty or not so be careful. Personally I would try this first though, because Sony charges $120 to fix your machine and it could take months for them to do it.

I have a corrupted file on my ps3 and it trys to repair it self after 30 goes right back to the same screen. HELP!!!

Your problem may be more widespread than just that one file. The file system on your hard drive may be corrupt. You can try to reformat the entire hard drive in an attempt to remove all the errors in the PS3 data, or you can buy a new hard drive. You may have to replace the hard drive if the hard drive is failing, and therefore not reading or writing data properly.

To reformat the drive, in the PS3 menu:
NOTE: This will erase everything you saved on the hard drive.

1) Go to the Settings menu, then select System Settings.
2) Select Format Utility, then select Format Hard Disk.
3) Select Quick Format

To replace the Hard Drive, buy any 2.5 inch notebook hard drive that has a serial ATA connection. Then remove the old hard drive from the left side of the PS3 and install the new hard drive.

After installing the new Hard Drive you will need to format the drive. When you turn on the PS3, you will see onscreen instructions to help you with this.

Ps3 turns on, but icons don't show up.

It sounds like it isn't loading from the hard drive. Take your hard drive out and see if it works on a different PS3. If it does the same thing then your hard drive is toast.

Playstation 3 turns on for 2 seconds then the light turns red and flashes

Okay, so I sent in my PS3 after this happened and they ran a diagnostic scan on it. This is caused by overheating. If you turn off your PS3 and leave it off for a while to let it cool, try turning it back on. If this fails and nothing works, guess what? It's fried. Completely. This is not a hard-drive problem, this is the motherboard and processor. If you have the ability to back-up your hard drive, do it, because you need a new PS3. Sony will not fix this and just send you a new one with a new, clean, hard drive. Sorry folks, it's that bad.

I left my ps3 on all night with a movie on pause, and now I can't get it to do anything. I took the movie out and shut the system off for a while and every time i turn it back on the screen is black. what...

I the hard drive might have overheated if you didn't have your system near a fan or source of cool air. Try unplugging the unit for a few hours and let it do a self master reset, and then turning on the unit and see if the hard drive reboots.

Ps3 problems

Reset the default by having the PS3 in standby mode (red light on) then press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds after the unit turns on. You will hear a beep and about 10-15 seconds later you should get the XMB on your screen by using the default RCA cable.
You need a new or refurbished hard drive. I have had PS3's that wouldn't do a thing till the hard drive was replaced. Hope this helps. Good luck.
