I moved into an apartment with an old hotpoint self cleaning oven. Does the self cleaning feature shut off on its own or do I have to do something? It has been on for several hours.

Mine has been running for five hours now. Now the self cleaning light is blinking red. I'm not sure if that means it's done or what. I'm very confused.

the oven has a feature where you set the time for it to begin cleaning and the time for it to end cleaning.
Next to the clock in the middle of the back are two dials. The top one is the start time, the bottom one is the end time.
I suggest 2 hours to allow a good cleaning.
The locked light will turn off when the cleaning is done, allowing you to open the locking lever.

How do you get the light to come on so the oven can be locked on so it will let the cleaning program continue to operate?
