Most USB cables are standard. This one specializes in USB cables, you may be able to check if they have one that will fit your need. Here and here are comparable products.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things worked out or should you be in need of additional information.

You are using the correct connection, the external power supply is powering the drive, so the USB cable is just handling data. I believe the message may be telling you that you will get faster performance using a USB 2.0 connection, it is probably sensing that your computer's USB port is USB 1.1.

Green light wont stay on on memorex traveldrive

The light signals a connection between the hard disk inside the Traveldrive to its case. If it fails that means that the hard disk is dead. The unit has died, junk it and buy a new one, hard disks can't be repaired.

I don't know how to attach the usb cable to the external hard drive?

Connecting an external drive is much easier than installing an internal drive because you don't need to open the computer case. The drive attaches to a connector either at the front or the back of the computer case; power is supplied by a separate cable

Available connections. Your PC is likely to have one or more USB 2.0 connections so plug into this your attached harddrive usb wire

I hve a Verbatim USB Portable Hard Drive with 160gb/go. Suddenly I notice the blue light on the unit is blinking, and my K drive (Verbatim) is no longer showing on my computer. What does this mean?...

usualy it means that it has an error, try checking that the cables to the drive are connected properly if there all fine try shutting the usb drive off and turing it back on after 3 min.
you should turn your PC off also and restart it.
if that does not work you need to post more information about your PC and periferal devices.

Need drivers

Below is the link for the FireLite 160GB portable HD. Drivers are only needed for win98. 2000/xp/vista are plug and play. The manuals are included at this link.

Additionally, there could be a problem with power supply. A switch is on the back...USB or EXT. EXT is for an external supply. ( USB is naturally for a USB cable. Clicking might indicate low power when using USB. Switch to the external adapter or get a USB cable with two connectors for the computer (the extral cable draws more power),

good luck.

Broke external hard drive

It depends on how badly bent it is. If you're stable with your hands, and can use a small nail to pry the deformed peice straight, do so carefully. If however you absolutely need to save the data on the drive and can't afford to have the bent peice fully break off, take it to your local computer repair store and they should be able to replace the connection.
