Re: jumper settings

Insert the jumper pin into 1 2 or 3 depending on your drive alocation i presume it is the only FDD in your case so set it to 1 dont set it to 0 or D this is a diagnostic mode.
if your on scsi you can set it to any depending on the drive slot i.e (a: b: or X:) - Lordlangford

I am installing an EPSON SD_600 5.25 inch flopy drive into a gateway computer. Which if any jumpers do I need to change into order to have this drive share a data ribbon cable with the existing 3.5 inch...

Unless floppy drive cables have changed in the past few years, they're designed for 2 floppy drives, with the jumpers on both set the same way. There's a small twist in the cable that changes the drive addresses instead.

Or you could just replace the existing drive with the new one.

How do I add two floppy drives, A and B? There are no jumpers to set.

If you're using an IDE cable and a fairly modern motherboard, just plug one IDE into the first drive, the second IDE into the second drive, and then plug in the IDE cable to the motherboard, and it should automatically configure the drives regardless of jumpers.

This drive supports Ready signal or Disk Change signal on pin 34 (RY34 or DC34), has a large number of jumpers for various settings, thus (unlike the standard 235HF drive which works in PCs only) this drive can used to replace a 720k drive on older computers such as Amstrad CPC/PCW or Commodore AMIGA.

1.2 MB? is this a 5 1/4" drive you are talking about?

You need an older floppy IDE ribbon. No drivers needed for that.
