I had a lot of trouble with that as well, even using XP. Have you done
the settings on the My Computer Properties screen as suggested?
Properties, Device Manager, Ports, Port Settings set to 38,400, and
Advanced Settings? If so, what do you have your advanced settings put
to? I had no luck whatsoever getting the computer to transmit to the
XL-6000 until I set these to the lowest possible settings. Thus, I
moved the slider to the far left for both, and presto it worked. Hope
    this helps!

Now if I could just figure out how to thread the thing consistently so it worked!

I received my machine last week and have had nothing but trouble with it. I download most all of my designs onto my computer. I cannot get any of the Sew-Ware software to work properly. The patterns do not transmit consistently. I have only been able to transmit a few designs. The dealer was little help and told me to call Singer on Monday. They thought it might be a cable issue but I'd like to hear from some of you. As Deb said I tried going back into the "Advanced settings" and pushed the slider to the far left but that didn't help. All the numbers are the same too.The weird thing is that it works intermittently. I never have been able to get the converter box (card reader) to work. The Sew-Ware2 program opened for 2 days and now I get a message saying the program can't find the converter. Lovely! And ...these machines aren't cheap. If anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful.

My Mom has the same singer and a new PC "Dell" with windows vista. Singer won't take responsibility for the software problem . We had to get a new serial to USB cable and try that . We were also told only to use the 64 bit version of windows vista which also did not fix the problem.
We have installed the software using an older version of windows ; Xp service pack 2 " from the control panel when installing the "Sew-ware conversion tool " .This also did not work .
We have adjusted the transmit and recieve speeds on the com -port for the cable : no success . Our latest issue is with a message for a file called Cportio.sys which is require for the software to run .
We are taking our old PC back to the store to get it fixed and restored so that we can use the sewing machine .
Until Singer is prepared to update the software , this i sour only option .

Make sure you have a null modem serial cable or a null modem adapter for a regular serial cable inbetween your computer and the sewing machine.  Also make sure your usb to serial adapter is set to com 1 or 2 in the device manager.  I had problems with the conversion software using any com port higher than that.

To hook up my laptop computer to my bernina, I need to use a USB to serial 9pin cable but it 'talk' to the sewing machine. I used a 9pin 9pin cable to hook up from my old desk top PC. What am I doing...

You need to get an adapter to convert the 9-pin to a USB port. I have one from Belkin. Once you get that set up, you will need to check the com port for the driver and make sure it is 1, 2, 3, or 4. If you have Vista or Windows 7, your softwware will not work. My dealer wants $400 to upgrade. I kept my old computer just for my sewing machine.

I have a Husqvarna 1250/Viking 1+ that my aunt recently gave me when she upgraded machines. I have installed the Customizing 95 (version 1.31) software on my laptop and it works fine. However, I can not...

1. Did the software come with a dongle? This is a "key" that looks like a memory stick, that is actually a copyright protection device. You cannot access the program without it. To get the program to recognize it. plug it into a free USB Port, then power up your computer. It will read the dongle as a new device and install it on your computer. Always make sure the dongle is plugged into the same USB port as when its installation.

2. Check the operating system compatibility of your embroidery software and your computer.

What is your computer's OS? If you have Vista, it will not read Win95-XP. In that case, you may need to find a used computer to dedicate to your embroidery and install Win 98. I have XP 2000 and it reads all the Win programs back through 95.

My Husqvarna Rose/3D Embroidery Studio, will not operate with the Vista program. It will run on XP, because XP is backward compatible to previous Windows programs.

If this is the problem, you can still purchase older Windows programs very affordably. Before installing it on your hard drive, I would get expert instructions from a professional, who would back up your hard drive. I've also heard of people partitioning their hard drives, so that they could use more than one operating system.

(This is MUCH CHEAPER than purchasing a new machine and all the software, etc to go with.)

Just a note: The small notebooks they've come out with, do not have the proper drive to run your embroidery program.

3. If you have the reader'writer that came with the machine and no serial port on your computer or printer, you can take the box to your local Radio Shack or computer repair, where you can get an adapter with a serial plug on one end and a USB plug on the other, or get the "Ultimate Box Plus". The adapter is cheaper.

One, or all, of these little tidbits may fit your problem.

Hope this helps.

Customiser 2000 will not connect to a laptop as it has a 9 pin serial port (female) and the laptops have a 15 pin (female) I have bought 2 different cables but none work it just says serial port did not...

Are you using a USB-to-serial adapter?

I *think* what the problem might be is that the COM port's not been set in Customizer. Within either of the Easy/Customizer apps, go to ScanCard>Communication Settings ... you'll open up a dialog box within which you can set which COM port your cable's going to use.

If you're compie savvy, you can go to the Windows Start button on Task bar>Control Panel>System>Device Manager>COM ports and SEE which COM port your cable's using.

But until your software knows what COM port your cable's using it will NOT recognize that you have one installed.

Please let me know if this doesn't help! Or if there's anything I can help with!! :)

I have the 7570 model and just recently got windows vista installed on my computer and now my computer states that there is no communication between the sewing machine and the computer I have an adapter...

I went to a computer store (Rabbit Computer) that repairs computers and purchased a new cable. They said that some customers had a problem with Vist and the more expensive brand of cable so I bought the cheap one. I had to install drivers on my compter and everything thing worked on my first attempt to download to the machine. The cable was half the price of the one at Best Buy.

Having trouble finding driver for Quantum XL6000.

Your USB to serial port should also come with a driver. Check the packaging. You need to install the driver in order for your computer to pick up the adapter.

Pfaff 7570 connection to new XP laptop

In this FAQ list (from PFAFF web) you find 100 times the same question and answer:
H402 My new computer does not have any serial COM ports, so how does it communicate with my Pfaff creative 7570?

You will need to obtain a USB Serial Adapter, which adds a serial port to your computer by plugging it into a USB port. Suitable adapters can be obtained from Belkin [] and Keyspan [].
The following USB Serial Adapters are known to work with the Pfaff creative 7570:
• Belkin F5U103
• Keyspan USA-19QW
Please note that the Belkin F5U109 is listed as working with the Pfaff creative 2140/2144 (FAQ #H405), but it does not work the Pfaff creative 7570.

Can't connect my Bernina 170 Embroidery unit to my computer

I just bought a new laptop and upgraded to V.6. Since I have always used a magic box I didn't know how to attach my bernina 170 directly to the laptop. My bernina dealer said that I would first need a serial to usb adapter since my machine is old enough that it doesn't have a usb port on it. Make sure it doesn't have the screws on the serial part because they will not allow you to attach it to the machine. He also said that I may have to make a new com port as most pc laptops only show 4. I did a search of the computer and found how to make a new com port. A little more fiddleing around with the laptop and cables and restarting both then it somehow recognized that I had made a new com port. Voila. It now works. (I am a Mac person). Hope this helps. margaret

call the people who made your computer (hp, dell) and ask for a down grade to XP and that will solve most all your problems that you will have with vista. vista has built in things that you will not be able to run alot of your programs on.
