I need help with a Sola s41500trm Battery Back-Up system. it makes a beeping constant beeping noise. i think it may need new batterys. i found the batterys on apexbattery.com, but their $80 each. is there any way i can take the batterys out and disconnect whatever's beeping, and use it for a heavy-duty surge protector?

Rickie If you count the number of beeps (4 beeps pause 4 beeps etc) this could tell you what error you are having. If it justs beeps with no pattern and your battery lights run down very fast then I think the batteries are one problem. Also check your charger to make sure that you are getting the correct voltage to your Batteries. You might want to ask a tech to check out the charger Hope this helps you

Is the unit running on battery power? A hum is normal when the inverter is running.

if it is CONSTANTLY making a humming noise, it is possible the unit is failing. Check your battery inside the unit, make sure it does not look swollen at all. If it is, you know the unit is failing and overcharging the battery. If it is not, pull the power cable from the outlet and see if it provides back up power and then plug it back in.

If the connected equipment stays on line, then the unit is working fine however I would consider buying a replacement UPS in the near future, a constant hum all the time is a bad sign.

If the battery is over 3 years old then it most likely needs to be replaced. Since it works fine except for when it is relying on power from the battery, then a new battery should make it just like new. http://www.batteryinternational.com/ups-batteries.html should have the battery you need. Three possible:

1 does new battery test good?

2 is battery inserted properly (backwards)?

3 do U clean the battery holder with a pencil eraser?

your battery might need to be changed. even if it has a full charger it might not be able to properly charge you phone.
try a new battery.
